The record on Findmypast says that William's father was called Herbert and that William was married to Matilda Stokes on 20th March 1898 at The Parish Church, Lower Mitton, Worcester.

His service and character were exemplary.

He got the South African War Medal 1899 with clasps for Cape Colony.

Good morning,

I have recently been told that an Ancestor named William Sheward born 1870 in Worcestershire fought in the Boer War. They say he was in the Coldstream Guards,
Later in life he used the surname Shuard.

Could anyone shed any more light on this man and prove this story true please?

Nala :-)
