If he left in 1851 ..the value of his weekly pension in 2000 was £61.31 a week |

Thanks for this! He left the Army in 1851 and that's the last I heard of him - don't even know whether he drew his money or not. I know he appears on a list of the regiment's delayed pensions, but that's about it. |

He got 6 pound 1 shilling 8p per normal year and 6 pound 2 shilling on a leap year. |

It doesn't mean that he got 4 old pence for every day that he served. It just means that he got a pension of 4d. per day which works out at 2 shillings and 4 pence a week. |
