Adoption paperwork is not in the public domain

The father named on his marriage cert will be his adoptive father, who may be traceable

The marriage cert to your mum should give his age and adopted fathers name

Plus a witness could be a relative

Looks like they married in 1967 West Ham reg district if your mum was nee Holloway

Details on freebmd

How complicated.

Adoptees often have a new birth certificate issued in their new name. So it might be worth ploughing through the birth records on www.freebmd.org.uk to see if something jumps out. Just don’t put in the middle name. A certificate would give you his date of birth.

Hi ErikaH

Unfortunately not. The details are sketchy at best. I dont want to upset my mum, and even when i asked her a couple of years ago about medical history she just changed the subject and said he must have died years ago.

We know that both my mum and dad were adopted, but as far as my dad, we have no records or concrete evidence of anything.

Thanks for your reply Erika

Hi ArgyllGran,

Theres always the fact that he may have changed his name. It becomes a little complicated as he was adopted, and we don't have any records of what his birth parent's, and only have myself and sisters hazy recollection of what his adopted parents were called.

His Birth year was either 1946/7/8/9 or 1950

Thanks for your reply ArgyllGran

Do you know whether he had siblings?

Where was he born?

Unfortunately there are lots of Kenneth / Kenneth T / Kenneth Thomas Greens in the ERs, in many different places.

There is no death of a Kenneth T Green 1977-93 on FreeBMD , nor of a Kenneth Thomas Green on the GRO site up to 2020 - assuming England/Wales .

Also no death of a Kenneth Thomas Green in Scotland up to a few weeks ago.

Of course, if he has died, his middle name/initial might not have been given.
Or he may have died in some other country.

There's also the possibility that if he doesn't want to be found, he might have changed his name.

In what year was he born?

Welcome to Genes and the boards.

TV always make it look easy - but it is not. If you are 50 then your father would be 80-70.

First thing to do is look at Search/ Electoral rolls. You also should probably look at the death indexes

Good luck

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for some help or pointers on trying to find my dad. I last saw him in the summer of 1977, in Plaistow London.

My previous attempts at finding him have ended up in dead ends as the info i have is sketchy at best. My Mum and Dad divorced in 1977, and it was very acrimonious. I dont want to upset my Mum, but i feel the need to have some sort of closure. I'm not sure i'd want to meet him as im pretty sure he doesnt want to be found, but finding any kind of information has drawn a blank.

Typing this has been particularly hard as its a subject that has never been discussed as a family, and ive always just shrugged it off, but since i turned 50 this year, i just want some kind of closure

Thanks for reading,

Shawn
