Find Living Relatives

Hello i am looking for some help in tracing a long lost familiy member Darren Napthine born in Worcester 1970 and adopted at birth- any help would be greatly appreciated as i am trying to help a friend and this person is not associated with my tree or family

Looking for adoptees is specialist research which cannot be undertaken by anyone on here.

You will need to have a look at the gov.uk site for adoption records and how to find them

Afraid no one can help as adoption records are only available to the adoptee

The friend could add her details to the National Adoption register so if the person also registers the contact details would be passed on

Have you also checked on members trees to se if anyone has him in their tree

He's not on any GR member's tree, nor on any Ancestry tree.

His name would have been changed on adoption, so there's no way we amateurs can track him down.

Has your friend\relative of Darren uploaded DNA anywhere? I would recommend this as a first port of call along with the Adoption Contact Register.
Certain relatives of adoptees are legally allowed to engage an Adoption Intermediary to obtain Adoption Records and trace the adoptees. ( you will not be given any information the adoptee is fully protected) however if the adoptee is traced they may not want contact or they may take a long time to come forward.

I think I would put that the other way round. First the Adoption contact register - you might be lucky quickly..

A FH DNA test will only work if Darren himself, has done a test. Otherwise it will only lead to his natural family.

Thank you for all of the advise- i myself searched for both my sister who was adopted and my brother who did not have his true name on birth certificate or date of birth and both were found within 3 days of each other- from what you are all saying so much has altered on these pages since i last used it for my own personal search

Nothing has changed in regard to what can be searched for

No online records anywhere would have access to adoption records

Sometimes people have been lucky that another member may have put their tree on here and have the adopted person on it

Sometimes it’s the adopted person too who knows their birth names


People then can try and make contact
