which didn't make sense, but was probably because of that 1962 death (if that's her), although a different year.

The last online sighting of Edward and Dorothy was in July 1931 (not June, as Winson says), when they travelled from Japan to London - record posted on page 2.
(Except for the possible 1962 death of Dorothy.)

Winson, I still don't understand from your posts if Edward returned to Kuala Lumpuir after the 1931 voyage to the UK, or not.
Presumably he did, as neither he nor Dorothy is visible on the 1939 Register.
