Hi everyone - does anyone on the site have a person called ANDREAS MEADS
in their family or family tree. I have never met Andreas (Andy) owing to a split family situation, but another cousin can remember him. Andreas would have been born Post WW2 although not sure if he was not born in Green or Cyprus. Parents are Dennis Edgar Charles Meads, mother Maria..............
I and another cousin are hoping to make contact either with Andreas (Andy) or his family to discover which of the registered deaths for a William Meads born 1892/3 in Ireland is our William.
My cousin knew Andreas as a child, but lost contact as they all grew up.

A tree on Ancestry, which seems better than the norm for that site, has William's death as 1946, so perhaps Flora only said she was widowed , to save face, if the marriage had broken down

Thanks so much everyone. My cousin Patricia Volante, daughter of William Meads 1914, anay d Queenie Morris, and like me granddaughter of Flora May Smith.....but not known to me until 2005 through G.R. I was fostered child, no knowledge of natural family until 2005. Patricia as a child used to see Andreas Meads (Andy) quite a bit with his father Dennis Meads, and Greek mother Mary. I also could find no record anywhere of Andreas, who was brought up the other side of the Estuary fromEssex, in Kent. I really want to find Andrea or Andy, as his father, Dennis might have given him family information about our shared grandfather William 1892/3 and more importantly when he died.
The thread about Widow Lily Lee is interesting, because Patricia looked at Wills for the William Meads I have thought of as our grandfather, who died in Hillingdon in 1946, not long before I was born, plus a couple of others, but thought the reference to Lily in the will precluded that William from being our William. My mother's marriage cert in 1943 states he is deceasedd, but she had not had any contact with him in twelve years apparently, and none with her mother. William and Flora were separated long before Dennis Meads was born in 1928, and another chap was living with Flora in her home, but birth cert gives William as father - such a mystery. Flora never gave away any secrets or information, never spoke about my poor mother Rosalind, or even if she knew that she had three grandchildren through her.

The information you have all given is so useful and will look at it more closely now.
Dennis was in the Army post WW2 served in Greece and other places nearby, and as my cousin Patricia says - most chaps brought back perfume type gifts for their families, but Dennis brought back a wife, Maria, but not sure where Andreas was born, or Andy as he was known. She has photos of him as a small child.
Odd that Flora chose Edgar and Charles as secondary names, both being strong Meads names, with Charles being the name of William's father.
What is compelling about William Meads who died in Hillingdon in 1946 is that the death was witnessed and notified by P. Meads from Reading. William had a younger brother Patrick Sidney born Reading 1906......and this is the only William/Patrick combination I can find, especially as the 1911 census shows them both living in the family home in Foxhill Road, Reading.
Will try to see if Andreas comes up on any trees - certainly not a peep on Google at all. My cousins in Essex have not seen Andreas since he was a smallish boy.

I have researched all the siblings to Willliam 1892, who mostly grew up in the Reading area, and the name Patrick was used for Patrick's son born in 1927 in Reading, Patrick Earnest in fact....so the William & Patrick connection seems very solid and strong. There are other Meads families in Reading/Berkshire, but none of them have the William/Patrick siblings, so I have to conclude that my grandfather William Meads died in 1946 in Hillingdon, with his younger brother as informant.
Sorry this is so long winded. If only families did not become so complicated and fostering agencies more forthcoming at the time of fostering as to family details.
