Yes I did because I thought it was him as he was looking for trevor so it says they were born in london not Leeds

Can't find any earlier thread from your Stephen Riley.

There are three threads (2005 and 2009, on Find Ancestors board) from a different Stephen Riley looking for a brother Trevor - those brothers were born in London, mms Warner, and different YOBs and siblings.

You replied to one of them (link below) - perhaps that's what you're thinking of?

It was in find living relatives under riley his name was stephen riley looking for his brother trevor ,2003

Not sure why the 4 children were listed under Armitage and Riley when the parents were married at the time.

Which surname would Stephen be using? You say he was on here a few years ago looking for Trevor. Where is that thread?

It is 1958 when he went to prison ,almond armitage to wakefield for 7 years

Were they registered as coomber or armatage as Lillian remarried Dennis coomber in 1959 , also how do you go about looking for prison records on a person ,please hope you can help

Both Stephen and Lynn were registered under another surname. There are two other children with those surnames too.

Are you absolutely sure that your Lynn married Wilfred Moss?

Her name was spelled Lynn (without an "e") at birth, if she's the one born in Leeds in 1957 - not 1956 .
Wilfred Moss's wife's name was spelled Lynne (with an "e") on their marriage record.

The Wilfred Moss whom you have found on the Electoral Roll is listed with a Lynne (with an "e"), and also two daughters who were born in Leeds. Their births were too recent to show up on FreeBMD, but can be found on Ancestry, and doubtless also FMP.


If you know definitely that your Lynn married a Wilfred Moss, then she must have added an "e" to her name at some point.

No I haven't, contact lynn as stephen was on here looking for trevor a few years ago , I found a lynn on the election registrar as she married a wilfred moss but I not sure it is her she was born in 1956 in leeds ,thank you for your help from Annette

Is it possible this is why the children went into care?

Have you contacted Lynn at all?

Are the children likely to have returned to Leeds after being in the children’s home in Chester.

How about contacting the local council/library archives (Chester) to see where/if any records from the home are held.....

They went to live with his mother lillian riley she married denis coomber, there another little girl stayed with there mother her name was Lynn riley there mother went to have thomas coomber , and patricia and edith coomber

If the family was split up, perhaps he was adopted and his name changed - though there's no indication of that on his birth record..

I have tried looking for him I have wrote letters but it turned out to be offices built on the address I sent a letter to , , have got in touch with edith his sister she hasn't seen him until she was about 2 , trevor riley is his brother , they lived in peel street Leeds, until the 5 of the family was put onto a childrens home in Chester

1956 + 68 = 2024 ;-) ;-)
