Find Living Relatives

My husbands parents split when he was around 18 months old and his father took full custody and did not allow him to see his mother ever again. He has been told nothing about her and she is never mentioned. He only found out her name when he had to get a copy of his birth certificate. Her name is Carol Eileen Worthington (maiden name) she was Tribe (when married to my husbands father). She was born in 1955, married in 1975 and had my husband in 1976. Divorce was around 1978/9. We assume she has remarried and has a new family but my husband would very much like to meet his mother. He doesn’t have a relationship with his father and would like to have one with his mother before it is too late. Please help

Not easy, she appears to be an only child. A tree on ancestry has her parents Michael John (1932-1999) and Eileen M (died 2011). Maybe she registered her mothers death, could be useful to get a copy of the certificate.

Her mother left a will, which went for probate. It only costs £1.50 to get an electronic copy from here:

Added, her father also left a will which can be found on the above site - Carol may have been mentioned in the wills.

Michael Worthington cremated in Cambridgeshire, which makes an address in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire likely for Eileen 2002/3, but which was sold in 2013.

If the will does not give helpful info maybe try writing to the neighbours in the hope they may have some info? Will PM it just in case.

This is from ancestry, but no idea where they get the data. So possibly not the right person whose estate went to probate?

Looking at Electoral Rolls for the Worthington family; your husband appears on the latest for his father unless there is another family member with the same name. The father remarried in 1982, but still lives in the Berkshire area.

You may wish to check this and being the daughter-in-law you may have some sway if you made discreet contact. This is one avenue of appeal to his father.
