Hi All

Thank you for all your help. The information that Mistycat gave from the obituary and the birth name possibly Fletcher, gave me the courage to send a message on ancestry and yes it is the Jack Evans I have been looking for :) I’m pleased to say I have now made a connection with one of the family and after giving what little information I had it has been confirmed.

I have also sent a message to the other tree with Alma Burns but I’ve not had a response yet, as I believe there is a connection there too.
I must say I’m still finding it hard to believe, that after all these years it’s finally happened.

Could well be......Jack Evans 1938 was born Jack Fletcher MMN Fletcher, Littlebrough September qtr 1938.
Annie Fletcher married Frank Evens in 1940.....

Gladys Hough nee Evans died in Flintshire in 1981. There seems to have been a son to the marriage but sadly died as a baby if the right one. Husband died 2000 Flintshire I think so sadly not going to be of help.

Hi the birth is on freebmd.org.uk mmn Rawstron ( edited sorry left out the r ) putting in the surnames brings up the sister Gladys also .

The 1939 register is on Findmypast. That there is a closed record would indicate that their Jack had not died by the time the register was no longer in use in 1991 ( used by the NHS) OR that his death had not been noted which could imply he died outside England and Wales.

Gladys married in 1950 to Hough as shown on 1939 register, you can look for children to that marriage on freebmd.org.uk also.

Mistycat I found this one and it all seemed to fall into place DOB 1938 could be right also going to the US but I was born in 1965. I also know I lived with my father I have a distinct memory of my mother collecting me and I was kicking and screaming not wanting to go, my father & mother never married. Could `I have been the result of an affair maybe ?

Edit.....This Jack was married to Alma Burns 1960 Rochdale, they had a daughter in 1961, son in 1964....neither born Rochdale but both in Lancashire, Alma died 1993 Manchester. Tree on Ancestry.....

I can see a birth in Rochdale for a Jack Evans, he also had a sister born the year before him. Long shot but I will see if the family shows up either for the mother goes to US or sister marrying , etc

Do you think he would have been born Rochdale? Have you tried to ascertain who else was at that address in 1965?

I have been trying to find information on my birth father Jack Evans and any family for many years (my mother refused to give me any info) all I have found out is his family I believe originated from Coalville in Leicester. I have no date of birth for him or even an idea of age (he may now have passed) or family first names, except he definitely had a sister, this I know because she she came out to Malta where we had emigrated to and left me contact details for my grandmother who wanted contact with me, I was in my teens at the time she also informed me that my father was then living in America, my mother destroyed the paper with my grandmothers name and address on when they left. I know my father Jack Evans was living in Rochdale Lancashire in 1965, (I have the full address on my BC) I think some or all of the family may have lived in or around the Manchester area before/after this time. I don’t know wether he stayed in America or came back to England.
I have tried ancestry and messaged people with Jack Evans in their family tree and also on here to no avail. Is there any other route I can take
