Thanks for reply, I've added a Post'em comment and Email contact on freebmd.org. I have a copy of the original birth certificate, but of course it states 'adopted'. Yes, we are considering using an intermediary.

His birth reg is listed on https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
You could add a Post’em in case a current relative looks for his birth name. You could also do the same to the birth, marriage & death listings for his parents. His mother’s death is probably too recent to be there.
Use a generic email address eg @gmail or @ hotmail to avoid unwanted junk mail in your main accounts. “S/o (parents names). Birth siblings welcome Contact” is pithy & to the point.

Don’t delete your GR account even if you choose not to subscribe. Make sure it’s always linked to an email account you can access. If, in the future, he Google’s his name, this thread will appear in the results. He can send you a message by clicking on your name. You can reply to private messages even if you no longer subscribe.

Have you thought of hiring an intermediary? There’s a link on the adoption contact register site.

Check if he is in a tree on here in his birth name.

Otherwise, get your wife to add herself to the national adoption contact register, in the hope that he is interested in finding birth family and has done the same

I am searching for my wife's (Myra) youngest brother John Griffiths who will 50 next month. Born 22/7/1968 at St Davids Hospital, Bangor.
Myra is the eldest of 7 surviving children. John was the ninth born. They all lived in a 3 bedroomed council house in Llanberis. Their father had recently died.
Myra remembers her mother bringing John home from hospital and cuddling him, but he was soon put up for adoption. She remembers that her mother used to pay maintenance to an agency in Manchester, but the rumour was that John may have gone to Liverpool.
Her mother was Annie Griffiths, maiden name Parry, deceased 1991.
Can anybody help?
