Find Living Relatives

Have spoken to his daughter and Grandson. He was born in 1937 in Manchester. He was registered in the name of Charles Fry, Mother's maiden name is Humphrey. There's another surname to add into the mix. How many surnames does one woman need. I am now told by Charles family that he used to refer to himself as a Manchester Paddy as his Mother was Irish.

I doubt I will ever find this Mother's birth. It is thought she was already married to another.

I have also been told that Reg may have married an Irish girl and moved to Ireland. How will I ever find him there?

Does the grandson know when Charles was born?

I wonder if this is worth considering?

Excellent news!

I have wonderful news to share with you all. I followed the line down from Charles marriage to Maureen. Then found their children. I then followed their marriages and found Grandchildren. I then searched on Facebook. I contacted the oldest Grandchild who is in his 30's. I was a bit apprehensive but he instantly messaged me saying, I am in tears, we have been looking for you all but hit dead ends. Please phone me asap.

So I phoned him, We were both crying. He has not had a Father around so CFVM Boardman has been his Father figure. They are very close. Apparently after the Mother's death they were all put in a children's home in Manchester run by Nuns. They were very cruel, hitting the children. They split them up and sent them off to different parts of the Country. Antony and Charlie did finally find their Father in the 1950's but then lost touch again soon after. Tony and Charlie moved away to Peterborough. They never knew what became of their siblings and have been looking for them for many years but because of the Mother's use of many surnames became stuck. Charlie had no contact with his brothers and sister since 1950. For 58 years he did not know what happened to them. He is presently poorly in hospital, but his Grandson was so excited to go to the hospital to tell him the news and show him the photos.

Due to his failing health it is even more essential that I find out what happened to Sheila and Reg asap. I am on the case.

Thank you all for your input and help which has helped and encouraged me, throughout this journey. We are nearly there.

Reg and Sheila are out there somewhere waiting to be found and hopefully reunited with their long lost brother Charlie. <3

Still don't see his birth, but the marriage cert would at least give his age.

Per 192.com, there's a Maureen and Charles Boardman in Peterborough, on the current ER.

New information to add which only causes more questions!

Today I received the Death Certificate for Anthony Boardman born 18 October 1931 in Greater Manchester. (although Birth Cert states Sculcoates, Yorkshire).

He died 5 Nov 1996 in Yaxley Peterborough. Retired Refuse Collector. The death was registered by the elusive brother-Charles Francis Vincent Michael Boardman who was present at death.

I cannot find a birth for this brother. I am still awaiting other certificates, which hopefully may mention him too.

Thank you Kay. I ordered that certificate and found it was the wrong one. the Mother's name was Teresa so I have rejected it.

Hello Kay, we looked into the probate and purchased a copy. As he died without making a will everything went to his wife he was estranged from. They were married in 1927 and split soon after. She went on to have a family with another man but they never divorced. So when JDB died she was his only legal heir and relict. I bet his children were a bit miffed!

I now have the birth certificate for Antony Boardman. Born 18 October 1931 at municipal Maternity Home Sculcoates. Father JDB. Mother Madge Boardman formerly Meagher. Father's occupation: House Plumber of Salvation Army Home, Chapel Laner Hull. Mother's address: Salvation Army Home, Chapel Lane Hull.

I have now received the birth certificate of Sheila Mary Fry born 1933 in Manchester. Mother Marjorie Fry no occupation of 10 Grafton Street Hulme. No Father.

So does this imply that JDB fathered her child in 1931 but not in 1933 but then fathered her next child in 1935 and then again in 1939?
