There is also a Lucia Longford (mmn Longher on free bmd) died same year so 3 of the 4 children died very young.

I believe that info is taken from the certificate rather than the index.

How can '2' and '35' be reconciled? Did the new system convert 35 days to 2 months, and then leave out the months?

Basically I think you would like to find descendants of your gr-grfather's 7 siblings, and you chose Pollux Longford to ask about just because the name was a good one for searching.

If you want to try for descendants of the others generally, you could give their info here and people would help trace down from them.

Thank you all for your help. I wonder if Pollux died at 35 days, his mother was possibly hoping for some immortality for him??? Pollux was the son of Zeus, the Greek God. He was the immortal one of Castor & Pollux. Also, it would explain how she could give him that name. He would have been made fun of at school, but if he was dead, it wouldn't matter. Thank you all once again.

I wonder whether the Pollux Longford death certificate says '35 days' and that was unclear or was mistranscribed into the index as '35'.

Neither Ancestry nor FamilySearch shows any other record of a Pollux Longford anywhere, ever.

It might help if Andrew gave a general explanation of the reason for the search, e.g. related to one of the parents and looking for their descendants. (Based on a 1911 marriage in Cardiff I suspect that is the case.)

As you say, it's such an unusual name I'd wondered if he'd changed it to Paul or Peter. The bad death transcript might be why it didn't pop up on FMP.

There is a Pollux Longford birth in 1949 - but there is also a Pollux Longford death in 1949, age given as born 1914. When I look at the GRO site the only death for a Pollux Longford in 1949 has him as 2 years old?!!

Can't find an earlier birth for a Pollux Longford (maybe born outside the country?)

There's an address in Wigston, Leics for Nicholas to 2012. The property hasn't been sold since then. It could be that it's a rental & that he had moved and/or opted out of the commercial electoral roll.

I'm looking for a Pollux Longford, possibly in the Leicester area, born in 1949 or his brother Nicholas F, 1952. Apart from birth records I can find nothing. Any help would be welcomed.
