I do not think that Sheila's parents married, so the death certificate would be useful.

Thanks everyone for your help. William died before he could marry my Mother. I have obtained the death cert. with his last address but I believe he was by then divorced.

Hi Sheila, what information are you actually looking for? His parents and any siblings, for example? We don't know if you don't say ...

Do you know his exact date of birth?
I guess the death certificate doesn't state it, unfortunately.
His exact date of death would tell us the 12-month period during which he was born.
(From being almost 46 to having just turned 45 on the date of his death.)

I'm trying to find any family that he may have had and any information about him. I
don't know where he was born. I have the Death Cert. He Died 16/07/1956 at Luton and District Hospital aged 45.
My Mother Died in 2006 but she never passed any info about him to me. I know that they met when they worked at Lucas Industries in Birmingham.

Hi Sheila, so if he was truly 45 when he died, we know that he was born between 17/07/1910 and 16/07/1911.

That means a birth registered from September quarter 1910 to September quarter 1911, inclusive.

Unfortunately, that still leaves very many William Brookes births to consider.

We don't know why he was in Luton at the time of the accident - possibly seeing family ... and whether he was from Birmingham where he was working at age 45 ... so it isn't really possible to narrow the possible births down by location.

If you search at FreeBMD, in case you haven't, using those quarters as the timeframe, you'll see the possible Williams.

It's also possible he had a middle name that just wasn't recorded when he died ...
