Thanks again to everyone for your advice. Kay, I will try your idea of a tree search. I realize that they may have already passed away, but I thought I would try and locate them while there is a chance they are still alive. My mother kept in touch with her parents, but I think the relationship became more distant after she came to Canada. My father never had any contact with his family. From what I understand, his parents were abusive and he left home as soon as he could.

Sadly it looks like neither of your parents had any siblings so unless either of them corresponded with aunts, uncles or cousins if they had any, it may be difficult to trace the whereabouts of your parents.

I have not had any contact with my parents since I was a teenager. Until I was 4 or 5, my mother and I lived with my maternal grandmother. After that, my parents and I lived in a trailer court until we immigrated to Canada. Because of family problems, I was placed in the foster care system at age 14 and gradually lost contact with my family.
