Welcome to genesreunited, Ken.

Do you know the names of his wife (ex-wife?), longterm Partner and any children?

Just to confirm, born about 1943? Have you put him in your tree on here?

Does he need an ABN to be running a cafe?

There are a number of R J Jones entries on the Australia Whitepages in Queensland. Have you tried contacting all of those?

It's possible the QLD ask a librarian service might be able to help by searching electoral rolls. There's no harm in asking

Just a quick question, are you sure of the spelling of his middle name?

JeffREy would be much more usual than JeffERy.

The 1972 electoral roll shows a Ronald Jeffrey Jones, clerk, in Seven Hills North, NSW.

(Sorry, not many of us here are in Australia; don't know the geography.)

Do you know his partner's name? If it is more uncommon than his, searches for her might find something. Google sometimes turns up things like family members' obituaries, municipal council business, and various events reported in newspapers or newsletters, where a person might be named.

Oops, sorry about the partner assumption. It's his partner's surname that could help, but not putting that here would be quite understandable. Same idea, if his surname is more unusual, googling (and checking the phone book on line) for him might yield better results.

Ask A Librarian is probably your best bet.

Ken - the 'QLD State Library' (on-line) & 'NSW State Library' have an 'Ask a Librarian' service. They (each) will check their records incl business directories and especially electoral rolls - past & present.

The 'RYERSON INDEX' has newspaper death records (on-line) - up to present day. The do 'look-up's from any newspaper notice of interest to you. (I hope not)
