Living descendants of Quesnel in Canada

I would love to make contact with living descendants of Robert Rene Quesnel, 1937-1996, and Diane Quesnel, 1945-2001 (brother and sister, both partners still living).

Although I have access to Ancestry and FMP, I have been unable to find any trace of their children.

Can anyone with good knowledge of Canadian records point me in the right direction, please?

I have names and years of birth.

Many thanks,

Sue

Unfortunately you will not be able to access any birth, marriage, death records in Canada for recent years.

If you have all the various names (partners and children), you can try the telephone directory on line

http://www.canada411.ca/

voters' lists are also at Ancestry but only up to the early 1970s.

Ancestry also has historical Canadian telephone directories but only for a few years, 1995-2002

Thank you.

I have had a look at the phone records and had hoped that as Diane's husband and son both have unusual (to me, at least) first names, I might be lucky, but so many of them are listed by initial only.

I'll just have to keep trying, and hope that one day one of them will come looking!

DOB, there is no harm in putting a little more info in your thread. It's more likely that if someone comes looking, they'll find you, that way!

For instance, what was Diane's name at death? with that info, and given that she died relatively recently, it might be possible to find an obituary on line.

One trick for searching is to use the country-specific google, in this case

http://www.google.ca

and under 'tools' at google, select country and then select Canada.

Here, this should get you to the right google search page and you can try from there:

https://www.google.ca/search?q=quesnel&tbs=ctr:countryCA&cr=countryCA

If you already know her children's names, an obituary might not be too useful, but if, for instance, she has a daughter whose married name you didn't know, it might appear in her obituary. Or it might tell you where the children lived.

Thanks again. I'll give the obituaries a try.

I do have more information re names, but I was trying to be respectful towards living family.

Diane's married name was Montgomery.

Thanks,

Sue

Rootsweb lists her obituary

MONTGOMERY, Diane M (QUESNEL); ; Schumacher ON; Timmins Daily Press; 2001-5-3

If you think the obituary might contain information useful to you, you could contact the Timmins Daily Press.

... which is probably this now:

http://www.timminspress.com/

or the library

http://tpl.timmins.ca/

There is a 'genealogy' section at that site.

from googling ... Robert lived in the same region as Diane ... on a 1960s voter's list, he and his wife lived next door to his parents.

I'll send you possible contact info privately.

A huge thank you to Joonie for your help with this quest.

You're welcome! I hope the family you found in the US turns out to be correct for Diane's family.

(It turned out that I don't think the contact info I had originally suggested for Robert's family was correct, after more searching.)
