I have now added a postem on freebmd. Thank you for that suggestion.

My brother in law, Mike Daly, also has Richard in his tree, but there has never been another tree with our Richard Stedman in it, as far as I know. His name was changed when he was about 2 when he was adopted.

Ann just curious, if Richard's surname, at least, is not likely the same as his birth surname, how did you identify a possible marriage?

Have you considered adding a postem to his birth record on free bmd, so that you can be contacted that way?

Have you tried to contact the other person other than yourself who has Richard in their tree?

If not then use the "search" facility at the top right of the screen and then click on "search all member trees". Put in Richard's name and year of birth and the other person's name will come up. You can then click on their name and send them a private message. You may or may not get an answer - depending on whether they still use the site and have the same email address they registered with Genes.

Looking for Richard, the full brother of Michael Stedman, now Daly. Both boys were adopted in the 1950's in the Windsor area. Richard may have a new surname and even a new first name, but his birth certificate will say Richard Stedman.
