Findmypast gives the county as Lancashire & other queries on the internet suggest its Oldham

Thank you so much for your replies. I/we are looking for any family! I was aware there may have been a sister.
I have tried looking at other trees but no luck yet. The only firm details are full name and place of birth. These are detailed on my husbands birth certificate. D.o.b unknown unfortunately, but certainly prior to 1966 as he was older than my husbands mother.

Sorry Samantha, but your post is a little confusing. Was Michael your husband’s father hence the name on his BC? UK birth certificates don’t usually say where the father was born.

Would his descendents or close relatives know about your husband? If they don’t, it could be a bit tricky suggesting how to contact them. If you want to proceed in that direction, we’d strongly suggest that you purchase a copy of his DC to see the name, qualification and address of the informant. Then possibly buy a copy of the Will.

Unfortunately, without knowing where they lived, there are too many possible marriages for the 1940 sister to correctly identify a possible marriage.

Samantha has clarified my confusion. She and her husband (b1984 Nottingham) are seeking his father's relatives.

To summarise -
On Samantha's husband's birth cert (in 1984) his father is named as Michael Llewellyn Carr.
Apparently MLC came from Grimsby, and was older than the son's mother.

It all ties in with the Birth and Death reg.
Although we can attempt to go further back, its been advised that Samantha purchases a copy of MLC's Will in the hope that not only would the Executor be a relative, but also he would name relatives as heirs.
The last residential address might help trace other people who lived there from the ER.

Not sure if you want to follow through with MLC's mother.

Sheila M Syers was born in Bingham reg Nottingham in 1924
As previously stated, she married Walter L (Llewellyn?) Carr in 1940 whilst in Brighton.
She then married Edward J S Walsh in 1952, also in Brighton Reg.
They don't appear to have any children together

If this is Walter's death, they must have divorced

If we're on the right track then he remarried in 1952 to Ms AMBROSE. Its possible that she is still living as she appears at the same ER address in Norfolk to 2016. She was born in 1928.

Will arrange to send by PM in case Samantha wants to follow up with a letter. Do bear in mind that without certificates to back up the research, it could all be circumstantial. If Walter was in touch with his children, his widow may have some pertinent info either about MLC or about his sister.

The Info supplied for the 2015-16 ER would have been correlated in summer 2015 at which time Mrs Walsh would be aged c87........
