Kay, I was responding to this comment below that you wrote -as I couldn't see the relevance of the Brown daughters. Only Alison Brown would be in the running as mother of George (although unlikely) and not any of the other Brown daughters.

"1932,a death report of farmer Richard Brown of Duddo had,

1 son and 4 daughters,!

So could be choice of 4 as a mother.!!"

Kay????

Kay???? Report 1 Oct 2016 10:53

I know Q,but the Brown was Alisons maiden name,so if George was William and Alisons son out of wedlock his reg would be under Brown. aswell :-)

But he could have been born to a extended family Thomson.?only the cert will confirm. :-D

Kay- I think you've confused it a bit there! George was a Thomson, not a Brown.

Robert & Euphemia Thomson had 3 daughters and a son. Their eldest daughter Euphemia was already married when George was born- so Ellen and Robina are the most likely- although I think it wise to purchase his birth certificate before making more assumptions.

Oh,

1932,a death report of farmer Richard Brown of Duddo had,

1 son and 4 daughters,!

Edit } --So could be choice of 2 Thomson as a mother.!!

Yes the full details of the parent/s will be on the birth certificate, including Georges place of birth, date, given names, name of parent/s and parent/s given usual home address.and date of registering the birth.

Sorry meant "No MOTHERS surname"

Treemadnancy

Treemadnancy Report 30 Sep 2016 20:50

Thanks Kay.. You say "no others surname is shown" will it show up in the original document.. I also wonder if he knew either Ellen or Robina was his mother..In my opinion it looks lie it could be Elens son??

;-)

TMNancy

I would get a copy of Georges birth certificate to verify the parent/s,,,,,as in 1905 no maiden name of the mother is shown,

If George had been born to Alison and William prior to their marriage, his birth would be registered in both surnames.as that isnt that case one can only draw on that he was a sisters child.but may come from another Thomson relative.?

So if correct, either of his aunt would now become your official grandmother...... :-D :-D :-D.

So its 1905 and not 1906 as death index and Treemadnancy belives........he isnt under Brown surname either,so looking very much as you put AQ.

That birth is the George Henderson Thomson that Treemadnancy says is the son of William Thomson and Alison Brown.- although I don't think those were his parents. (More likely to be the son of Ellen or Robina).

Here he is with Grandparents in 1911:

I know it's not directly related to your query- but I don't think William was the father of George Henderson Thomson- I think it more likely that he was the illegitimate son of Ellen or Robina.

According to your opening post you have this man as his father:

1911 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription
Thornington Mindrum Northd, Kilham, Northumberland, England

William Thomson Head Married Male Farm Servant 31 1880 Northd Carham Carham
Alison Thomson Wife Married Female - 30 1881 Northd Thornton Norham

Married 3 years, no children.

Berwickshire News and General Advertiser - Tuesday 07 May 1907
At Ancroft North Moor Church on the 20th April by the Rev. Jas Wallace M A of Horncliffe Presbyterian Church, William Thomson, farm servant, East Ancroft, to Alison, daughter of Richard Brown, Duddo.
--------------------------------------------------

The article in the paper re George's marriage states that George was the son of the LATE Mr & Mrs Thomson- but William wasn't dead in 1939, so perhaps it was to cover his illegitimacy?

William & Alison in 1939:

William Thomson 29 Apr 1879 Male Horseman On Farm Married
Alison Thomson 11 Mar 1881 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married

It would be a big coincidence if the mother's name was Thomson, as well as your father's.

I think you'd be better to look for births with some completely different surname, and with MMS the same as the child's.
But , as has been said, there's no guarantee it would be the child you're looking for, and he/she may have later been adopted and his/her name changed in any case.

Yeas Kay! your quite right. There were about 6 possibilities and I didnt want to purchase them all, so got in touch with the registrar in Northumberland who are saying High G Thomson was a possible relation, states mothers surname as Thomson..She never gave the fathers name which suggested he wasnt put on the birth record...So I'm doomed either way. I did email back and ask if the fathers name was listed but no reply.
:-(

Kay????

Kay???? Report 29 Sep 2016 10:19

Unless you get a copy of the birth certificate to compare parentage of H G Thomson it maybe you could spend endless time looking for someone who isnt related.
