Hello Rachel, is it possible your Maureen was older and born in England?
there is a birth in 1938 in Northumberland to match, followed by a probable marriage in Scarborough but before 1967 ... so probably not the right person
a member of this site may have that person in their tree, place of birth shown as unknown, so you could always enquire
click 'search all trees' under 'search' in the upper right and look for the name, then click 'find out more' if you want to try to make contact
(many people do not receive notice of messages via this system because they do not keep their email address up to date)
If you put yourself in your tree here under your name at birth then if a family member searches for you, they will find you and be able to contact you.
Are you possibly in someone's tree here? search for your name ... there is a result that seems to fit the info you have given but does not match with a birth record ...

Welcome to the boards, Rachel.
Is Curry her maiden name, or a married name?
Is she Irish, or did she just happen to be living in Ireland at that time?

Thanks for the replies, (have been away for a few days hence the late reply)
I know that Maureen Elizabeth Anne Curry (maiden name) was 21 in 1966, she had been living near Shrewsbury but then moved back to Northern Ireland in early 1967, she was listed as a children's nurse at the Belfast Hospital for sick children.

Unfortunately, there aren't records of Irish marriages or deaths online after about 1957.
(If I'm wrong, I'm sure one of the Irish helpers will correct me - please.)
And if she married elsewhere, it's not an uncommon enough name to be able to identify a particular record. Even her birth isn't definitely found online - there are Elizabeth Curry's, some with middle initial A or M, but no Maureens c1945 in N. Ireland, as far as I can see.

As JC said earlier, there is one result in "Search All Member Trees" on this site, for a Maureen Curry born 1945. No birthplace given.
The tree owner is someone called Michael. If you haven't already ruled that one out, it couldn't do any harm to contact him, in case she's the Maureen you're looking for.

The mother died in West Devon. Perhaps she lived close to her daughter Maureen?
There is a marriage in West Devon 1999 for a Maureen E A -------
I don't see a matching birth for the lady- wondered if it was your Maureen marrying a second time? There are no births (in England) to this marriage.
They are listed on the electoral register until 2006 living in Devon (property was sold in 2006). ----------------------------
If the Maureen that married in 1999 is correct there are two births in Devon 1973 &1975 (with mm Curry) that would match a first marriage. Both children are listed on current electoral register.
I hope this makes sense! Please PM me if you need me to explain further

Excellent - Rachel, do click on AustinQ's name to send him a private message and he will give you the details that aren't posted here for privacy.
Just a note about the 1945 Maureen in a family tree here ... the person whose tree it is has themself in their tree here, shown as a few years younger and born in the US, so it's not possible to tell whether there might be a connection, but it seems unlikely maybe.
Your Maureen may have a sister? (note her child's name)

This all fits nicely, especially with the Irish link. I did see the birth for Maureen's sibling, and thought the same Joonie- that Maureen had named her child after her sister :)
Rose- what a wonderful find! I had looked for the sister but couldn't confirm anything- the gravestone link explains why. How sad, such a short life.
I have sent a message to Rachel earlier today (not opened yet), saying we hope she can return to her thread. I also sent brief summary of information highlighting the names of living people in case she wishes to make contact.
Rachel, we'd love to hear from you- and if you need any further help please ask.
