Her father is the same father as the young adults we are trying to find
So all of her dads documents she is going over

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 8 May 2016 21:54

I'm assuming James and Sharon separated, if the children don't know about their father's death.

Do you know how long ago that would have been? Was it after 1974?
(I think he may have remarried in 1977 ?)

What was James's occupation? Or Sharon's?

There's a 1974 Voters' List entry for a Sharon Cameron, registered nurse, and a James Cameron, printer, living in Roanoke Road, Scarborough, Ontario.
Scarborough is part of Toronto.

Not that that helps to find Sharon now, even if that was the right person.

ArgyllGran, I believe that the father died 19 Feb.2013, Poole, Dorset.

Detail Report 8 May 2016 22:50

there wasn't no talk of what father done as an occupation as they never spoke about about Canada

he never spoke of his life there and would never answer questions

however she has come acrossed a passport but some of the ink has run on it and some is unable to read, she has been going through all his documents to try and narrow down the search

James never said he was married but he may have got married she doesn't know
a big thank you to you all

ArgyllGran Report 8 May 2016 22:52

Yes, Margaret, according to gov.uk, that's correct.
Given the place of death, I'm assuming the marriage in 1977 is his remarriage - though of course I could be wrong.

And anyway, it doesn't help find Sharon or the children, so is irrelevant!

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that there is more information from sue my friend as I would really like to see her reunited with her family,

Whose funeral did Sharon and the children come to England for in the 70's? If they were all born in Canada it must have been a relative of James?

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 9 May 2016 00:01

Detail, checking the phone book on line as directed

http://www.canada411.ca/search/?stype=si&what=k+cameron&where=scarborough

there are many K Camerons in the Toronto area

but if you look at that link you will see a Keith in Scarborough (near the bottom of the list)

there would be no harm in your friend writing a letter to enquire, or telephoning if she is comfortable doing that.

... Actually google maps for that address gave an indication that this could be a bit of a sensitive contact. It could be sheltered accommodation ... so a cold call might not be the best approach.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 9 May 2016 00:14

because this was really very muddled, I think you meant this

I am trying to trace his three children
ian Cameron
keith Cameron ( both men would be in their mid 30-40's
there is a sister as well
the children were all born in Canada
there mothers name is Sharon she is aged 70 so abt 1946 born possibly Toronto area
... as she is going over paper work she has >> 'she' is the half sister in England?

so your friend the half-sister in England is going over paper work and wanting to find Ian, Keith and their sister in Canada

and also Sharon Cameron their mother (who could have remarried, or be deceased?)

Detail

Detail Report 9 May 2016 00:21

The funeral they came over here for was James mothers Agnes

My friend sue is Ian and Keith half sister (they have same father )

It's what I would say as the family doesn't know about sue
And they don't know about their fathers passing

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 9 May 2016 00:50

whatever contact might be made with any possible family member, it should be Sue who does it, no?

she would have to start by explaining about their father's second marriage, and so on ... so best to do it by letter if info is found that might lead to them.

The children would actually all be at least 40 now I think, if James remarried in 1977.

So there are Ian and Keith in Canada, and there is also a sister in Canada?

Unfortunately the names really are just too too common for much chance of finding them by online searches.

Detail

Detail Report 9 May 2016 17:04

As she doesn't know Sharon's maiden name

Thank you ever so much

Could someone tell me where I can look up this marriage in 1977 plz
Sorry to be a pain

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 9 May 2016 20:35

Is this the marriage referred to?

James A Cameron

in the England & Wales, Marriage Index, 1916-2005
Record Image View

Name: James A Cameron
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1977
Registration district: Poole
Inferred County: Dorset
Spouse: Pauline M Cameron
Volume Number: 23
Page Number: 0735

Or this?

James A Cameron

in the England & Wales, Marriage Index, 1916-2005

Name: James A Cameron
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1977
Registration district: Poole
Inferred County: Dorset
Spouse: Pauline M Hynes

Page Number: 0735

I guess they're one and the same.

Thank you so much xx you have been a big help

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 9 May 2016 22:01

Yes, Margaret, that's the marriage I thought could be James's (but of course might not be.)
I hadn't posted it because the couple may well be alive.

It looks as if Pauline and James had been together for some time, and she'd been using his surname, which is why both Cameron and her own surname are given.

If that James Cameron is the right one, he must have been pretty young when he married Sharon, in order to have had three children and a divorce, all before the age of 33. But not impossible!

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 10 May 2016 00:19

It would help if Detail would confirm with Sue whether that is in fact her parents' marriage maybe

then it could be deleted, just to confirm the marriage was in 1977 ... or if that is not it, when their marriage was

because knowing when the children in Canada were born would be a little helpful, even though birth and marriage records are not available, just to know about how old they are

also, it would help if Sue would confirm whether the 1974 Canadian voter's list entry for James, a printer, and Sharon, a nurse, is correct (from what she knows of her father's occupation)

Detail, can you get answers to these questions?

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 10 May 2016 12:20

This is all very confusing!

In an earlier post Detail said that the Canadian children would be mid 30's to 40's now. That would make them born 1971-1981.

It was also said that they went to England for the funeral of James' mother Agnes.

Questions that need to be answered:

When did Sue's parents marry?
When was Sue born?
Does she have siblings? When were they born?
When did James' mother Agnes die?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 13 May 2016 19:57

And when the family came to UK for Agnes's funeral, was James still with them at that time, or had he and Sharon already separated?
