Find Living Relatives

hi, I am searching for my brother who was adopted at birth , - birth name sean wiseman dob - 02/04/1986 in blackpool, I have never met him and I am certain he does not know I exsist. my mothers maiden name - Elaine spence 1968, father name gary wiseman 1970, both living in blackpool. I would love to get in touch.

Without knowing his new name then we can't help

You could add your name to the adoption register and also add a note on his birth record on FreeBMD so if he looks for his birth he will see the note . Add it as a contact ref

Although its alright to leave Sean's full date of birth as his name would have changed, please remove the full dates of birth of Gary and Elaine. Unless they are unfortunately both deceased, its an invasion of their privacy.

Just use the edit button on your opening post and leave their years of birth - 1970 & 1968.

Currently births on freebmd end in 1984. You'd need to check back on the site to see if or when they extend the transcriptions to 1986.

Either you or your mutual parent(s) could contact the Social Services who handled the adoption to ask if a letter can be placed on his file in case he decides to investigate his 'roots'. I believe that the birth parent can request contact via an intermediary.

We find that some people join the site, post a message, then delete their account. Please don't do that, just allow the sub to lapse and always make sure that genes is linked to your usual email account even if you change internet suppliers.
In the past, someone has 'googled' the name, joined the site so that they can say "That's me/my brother/my father" etc only to discover that the original poster has deleted the account. Free members can reply to messages sent by paying members.
