Looking at military records for WW1 - over 70% were destroyed in WW2 - there are couple of medal cards which may be relevant. They don't give age or place of birth.

Gunner - Private then Acting Sergeant
Awarded the Victory, British and 14 Star medals, with a qualifying date of 19 Aug 1914.

The record states he was also entitled to the Silver War Medal indicting he was injured. The corresponding card indicates he enlisted in the army on 20 Dec 1904 and discharged due to sickness on 10 Feb 1919. He was an acting Sergeant, but paid as a L/Cpl

HE WAS KNOWN TO BE A RAILWAY WORKER IN CARDIFF IN 1922. HE AND HIS WIFE HAD TWO GIRLS EDITH AND ANNIE. BOTH CHILDREN WENT TO ST CHRISTOPHERS RAILWAY ORPHANAGE IN .DERBY. BELIEVED IN 1922 WHEN IT IS BELIEVED PARENTS DIED. IT IS THOUGHT THEY LIVED IN RTHE CATHAYS AREA OFCARDIFF.
Any info please.
