Carol Report 6 Aug 2015 15:33

I am searching for a relative in the Adelaide area. Her father was George Thomas Manning and her mother was Eileen. Dianne had a brother Peter and unfortunately has no information on his sister. I believe Dianne was probably born around 1943 +/- 5 years. She was married to a Pat I believe and had a daughter Carolyn. This is the only information I have. I would love to have contact with any of her relatives as I believe that she knows nothing of her Grandfather George Thomas Manning who died at the Somme in 1918 and had emigrated to Australia. Dianne has a lot of family in England.

Are you sure of spelling of the surname? There are very few showing on the electoral register and no Pats or Diannes.

as it turns out the spelling is correct, there is a newspaper birth notice for a child of Dianne (Manning) and Pat Delai in 1972

the child's initials are MP ... there is an 'M' listing here ...

http://www.whitepages.com.au/searchRes.action?name=delai&location=&initial=

probably the newspaper birth notices for children of M Delai in 2004 and 2008 are that child's children

just search here

https://www.genealogysa.org.au/resources/online-databases.html

for surname Delai and you will see the entries ... the mother's name does not match the other initial for that telephone listing

Dianne's daughter-in-law's married name is (almost?) unique ... google it

Thank you everyone that has responded to my message. The spelling Delai is correct as the family are listed with the cemetery for when the grave sites expire but unfortunately they will not give out the address of them although it has been a long time since any contact was made with them.

Yes Joonie you have it correct William & Louisa Manning were the parent of George Thomas Manning (they were also my grandparents. George Thomas & Lillian had Dianne & Peter. It certainly looks like they had a son Michael Patrick. I will try to ring all the Delai that are listed in case there is any connection. Unfortunately the time difference between the UK & Australia I have to get the timing right. Will let you know how I get on.

I thought I'd posted this afternoon! maybe I was about to when I had to crash my browser ...

I think Carol posted that last before reading my PM ... hopefully that extra info and what she then found with it will lead to contact :-)
