Catherine McGill who married Abraham McGill in St Nicholas' church Whitehaven On May 18th 1982 is my Great Grandmother. I have tried to identify where she came from before she married Abraham but I cannot fine her. Does anyone know about Catherine's parents and childhood?

As you have the exact date, you must know her maiden name, and should have her father's details

Thank you all very much, I have a copy of Catherine's and Abraham's wedding certificate but all it says is that her father is John Nixon a famer. I however cannot find a John Nixon with a daughter Catherine who was born in Ireland in 1861. It might be that she came over to England for the wedding but never actually lived here before her marriage . I was hoping someone might know this.

Abraham may have been a friend of her father's.......and had her sent over

He was old enough to be her father himself

Agnes is a widow, but the info on Maria's baptism record (above) rules out these people, assuming the father's name is correct both on the baptism and on Catherine's marriage cert

This looks like the death of the husband/father from that family
