hold onto hope Neil, but without beating yourself up, as others have said, and do what you can to create the opportunities for Brian to contact you if he looks for family

A few years ago, I found the family of a man who was born to unmarried parents in England in the 1920s, believe it or not, so he was in his 80s ... I identified who his father probably was from the little information he had, found what he had done in life afterward (not too difficult as he was landed gentry!), found his family ... the man in Australia contacted the family in Ireland who had never heard of him ... and there was joy all round.

Sometimes people don't find out they were adopted until their adoptive parents die, although that is less common these days. Or, as has been said here, may not want to look for their birth family until that happens.

if you ask google for

"Brian Robert Dunn" 1961

or

"Brian Robert Dunn" adopted

your thread here comes right up. If he does the same, he will find it too.

I most definitely think he was adopted in a local area. This is what has made it more difficult as I walk around thinking is that him or I can be on site in southeast laying bricks looking at everyone of the age.

I would like all to no.I am not seeking to fill and find possibly an answer to my failures or answers and excuse for behaviour. But please believe me I am proud of the pain that has made me the man I am.
I will find you my brother.By means of no alterative motive than love of blood. :-)

Thank you all for the support.
Jean as an unmarried couple my mums father would not support them and my fathers family was,not in my mums eyes a place to be.
I have pushed and fought to worship my mums wish.
My fathers belief was that I should never have been told.
I do not no how I new but I new I had a brother and it was this that lead my mother to tell me.
All answers Jean i need not look for.My mums mum committed suicide when i was a year old and my mum died at 54.
Adoption at that day was barbaric with no thought about helping parents or the ongoing devastation it causes.
Things and attitudes have thank god now changed.
My motive is not selfish but only for my brother to know i am looking for him.
There are know answers Jean only life.
Love and respect.Neil.XXX <3

Hello Neil,

Hope you are O.K.

Can I ask was it a family member who adopted you're brother or maybe a family friend ?

If so can you remember any names ?

regards

You can PM me if you don't want to put names on this thread.

Kay.RR.Please believe in me. :-)

Kay????

Kay???? Report 27 Feb 2015 23:25

Neil,

You must have signed up to Ancestry at some point and given them your card details, the subs must have been up for renewal or the end of a 14day free trial was at its end,,,,,,,if you dont go on the site and cancel, they think you want to continue and take an auto payment from the card details you gave, they assume you want to become a full time subcriber,,,,,,,,naughty really,,,,,

dont sign up for free trials that want your bank card details,,,,,,,,,it can trap you into something you dont want.

if its free why do they need bank card details.?

FAIRTHORN Report 28 Feb 2015 15:04

Has anyone suggested to Neil to look under his mother's name?

EDIT I see Rambling Rose suggested it

If "Brian" was searching himself for kin, he would perhaps start by looking for his birth mother

Could there a trail via "Brian's " birth certificate ? ie the address of his mother

"Brian" may have gone on websites & also asked for help.

EDIT

http://www.ukbirth-adoptionregister.com/search.php

FOUND THIS . have you placed this ? <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
