very important advice from patchem!

(just to be extra clear, I would not put personal details about the child or her mother, just the information that you are a family member and are eager for contact, with an email address as patchem says because there is no contact mechanism through Freebmd)

patchem

patchem Report 1 Feb 2015 09:10

You can also add a postem to the free bmd entry, with contact details or references.

Well electoral rolls for that time are held at the local main records office for the area

They are searchable by address which you have , you may have to search in person BUT could try an online contact . They may search for you but make a charge for it

Try googling for the address of the main office of try the local council by phone for info . I have found most councils very co operative

on the birth cert it gives an address where she was born. ive checked the place on google earth and its a house not a hospital! Could it be her Aunt and Uncles house.

How could i see who lived in that house in 1947 please?

does that mean that the baby was born at the Aunty and Uncles home ?

If she was born at a hospital, surely the birth cert would list the hospital as place of birth?

Just seen this and it's GREAT its the right birth

Us helpers can only go with info posted when someone is looking for a relative and TRY to find what info is out there

You could add yourself to the adoption contact register just in case she comes looking for her birth family

:-) good result so far which is step in the right direction

well that is terrific Sarah, and darned quick!

good advice from Rose, especially always making sure your email address is up to date in this account ... it is worth getting a free online account like at Gmail so that even if you change internet service providers your mail will always go there

even if you no longer pay for a subscription here, you will be able to reply to messages people send you

(if your subscription expires you can also always reply again to messages anyone here has sent you in the past, something else to keep in mind in case you need help in future)

something to do first off, dark as it seems, is try to rule out that Joyce's daughter has died ... after 1969, the deaths index shows the exact date of birth and it can be searched at Ancestry by that information alone (with no name even)

it is an arduous task but finding all the deaths of women with that birthdate and then trying to identify their birth under that name, or marriage to that surname, could leave someone unaccounted for who could possibly be your person

for example I took the random birthdate 1 August 1947 ... 187 people with that birthdate died between 1947 and 2007 ... so about half that many women ... 4 of them (2 men, 2 women) died in Sheffield, fewer than 20 in Yorkshire

even if she had died, you could very possibly get in touch with family

but of course the odds are pretty good that she would still be alive, at under 70 :-)

That's excellent Sarah :-) At least you are now certain of her birth name and date, so you will be able to put it on your tree so that if she is also searching she will be able find you. Remember to keep GR updated if you change your email address.

Sarah, hasn't it has already been established that it can't be the Freda birth. quoting from earlier in the thread

"Freda was discounted on the other thread because she was originally registered in 1929.

If you click on the page number she was also registered under Parsons."

Absolutely delighted for you, for your family for your helpers on genes.

Congratulations to you all and Sarah - you sound over the moon.

Some good advice and help here going forward. You will be in a special place now and I knew this would happen.

Well done all round.

sarah Report 29 Jan 2015 00:54

Please dont laugh..this is so strange...as i said Kathleen was a farmer. When i was a little girl she had a pet cow..........called Freda!!!!!!!

Freda is also a German name .

If the birth certificate i have ordered doesnt come up with the goods then i am going to take my chance and order the Freda one. YOU NEVER KNOW!!!!! :-D

How exciting Sarah - this does seem to fit the information I had googled on POW's near to your farm information.

Well done you and keep us informed when the cert comes. If not your baby Arnold, then it could be Freda? I am picking the latter personally, but I could be wrong. It's just that 1947 seems a little later although I am not sure if any German POW's remained and made their lives in England. I understand that some did. I feel excited for you.
