By the way Prickles, Edith's middle name was May. It has been confirmed that I have found her daughter and we will be meeting soon. :-) |

Well folks I think I have found who I am looking for. I took your advice Jacqueline and traced a daughter from the death certificate of Edythe Grant and it seems it is the Edith I am looking for. I have been in touch and sent some photographs which I hope will confirm this fact. Thank you all so much for your advice. |

Thank you. I will look at these certificates and take it from there. I realise I will not get any further without them, without a relative seeing this. |

Thanks for your replies. It is beginning to look to me that I may be looking at the wrong Edith M Drapper. There is an Edythe M Drapper born the same year and I have found a marriage for her to a Grant, christian name unknown, but could be John. This was in Cairo during 1941-1945. I did contact the consulate in Cairo for info, but they did not reply. This lady died in 2002, but I did try checking if there were any children from that marriage. Still ploughing through that as there are many many and I have no way of knowing whether or not any children were born in UK or abroad. It is possible that they are one and the same and she remarried. She left home when she was a teenager, at Cedric Road New Eltham and what happened to her after that is very vague. I do appreciate the info you have taken the trouble to find for me. |
