Thankyou everyone. The birth for Reginald hayman in Colchester is correct. Still not sure where a Canadian connection is though. Hearing rumours, an say so, is not facts is it?
Margee, thankyou, not sure if he did speak French.
All a bit mysterious at the moment. But thank you everyone. <3 <3 <3

The only Reginald Hayman on the Home Children list is the one I posted who was 17 in 1903. Also there's no Toby Hayman.

I doubt that he was French Canadian with that name. Do you know if he spoke French?

Kim..........Google British Home Children.

THE BRITISH HOME CHILDREN

THE BRITISH CHILD EMIGRATION SCHEME TO CANADA (1870-1957)

100,000 British Home Children (alleged orphans) were sent to Canada by over 50 British Child Care organizations. These 4-15 year old children worked as indentured farm labourers and domestic servants until they were 18 years old. The organizations professed a dominant motive of providing these children with a better life than they would have had in Britain, but they had other ignoble and pecuniary motives.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 24 Aug 2014 11:01

Might he have been a 'Home Child' and sent to Canada when he was very young?
Hopefully his daughter can shed some light on the mystery :-)
