And I have sent for his death certificate. The researcher does this as part of her day job, fully accredited and recommended by Julia Feast.

Lynne, I would just say again that posting his cause of death seems unnecessary; no reason to include it, and you can just say that you have been told his cause of death. You can edit your posts to remove it.

As I understand it, you don't know for sure that he did not have children, and if he did, they might not want such personal info published. You were only given it, as you say, because blood relations are allowed access in case of inherited illnesses, and that isn't relevant to the search.

If you have his date of birth you really should be able to identify a very narrow field of candidates for his death.

Of the 4 you have and 2 you have ordered, there are in fact no matching births? If there are matching marriages, the father named on the certificate, if any, could help identify the person, too.

edit -- oops, I had the thread opened and posted this without refreshing and seeing Rose's and your posts.

I guess I too don't quite understand how the researcher obtained the information, although it seems reasonable that there is a procedure for blood relations to obtain cause of death info for adopted family members.

This may help regarding the changes in the Law in 2002. I believe there was further tweaking more recently.
