Fred. Born 1910 approx. lived in London during war. owned small shop in Camden town. Wife, and two daughters. R.A.F. connection

Do you know the names of his wife/daughters? It would help a lot in your search if you do.
Chances of anyone who knows of Fred seeing this are very remote, so you will need to dig a bit more.

Frederick has himself in his GR tree as being born in 1941............but there is no birth record on freebmd to match..........admittedly, he doesn't indicate any place of birth, so it could have been outside of England and Wales.

It would be good if some further details were forthcoming, such as the name of the wife, at least.

Where Fred lived 'during the war' may have no connection whatever with his birthplace

Have had a PM from Frederick explaining about his name - I won't put on here, obviously.
I don't think his wife's name is known, all Frederick knows is his name and location back then.
Frederick, do you know where he lived? Although not available during the war years, you could try looking at the electoral register in other years if you have an address - these are available online for London up till 50's I think.. With luck it would have his wife's name - I am assuming the wife you refer to is not your mother? This might be a starting point.

The daughters born to Fred and his wife may be blissfully unaware of the poster's existence, so caution is needed

Have had a further PM. I had asked Frederick if he has any more info about Fred, however minor, and he says not. He is on the verge of giving up, so I am nudging this thread to see if anyone has any bright ideas.

Frederick, just to be 100% sure, I take it you know none of the following:

names of wife or daughters;
When he married (or was he already married when you were born??)
roughly when/where daughters were born;
where the shop was.

And anything else the others on here can come up with!

The only other thing I have managed to dig up are a few Frederick Underwoods in trade directories, but without more info it's impossible to pin down which if any might be yours.

From those Er's posted above, the Frederick George and Beatrice marriage looks to be in 1932, and one son. So rule out?

It would help to know how old the daughters were, to give some idea of the first marriage dates, just to confirm, and help with the Frederick/Dorothy possibles (or also rule out).

Even if Frederick only knows if the daughters were older or younger than him, it might just offer the clue we need. If Fred was already married, and believed to have been born about 1910 (not sure how definite that is), it would narrow the window quite a bit for a marriage.
Frederick George born Staines is on an Ancestry tree - he married Battersea 1934 and died in Chelsea 1984, so no obvious connection to Camden.
We need Frederick to come back.

Frederick states all he knows is that the 2 daughters were born before him (I might not have asked all the relevant questions mind!). This is my reply:

'I'm going to put the info you have given me on your thread.
The only thing I can think of is to look for possible births of children, and marriages for Fred(erick), in London area - presumably 1930-1940. If you find 2 girls with same mother's maiden name, it might be possible to match to a marriage for their parents - or vice versa, that is find marriages and look for offspring!
However, even should you find possible matches, the question arises of how to confirm whether this is your father or not. Without some names, or at the very least an occupation to match to a marriage cert should you invest in one, I can't see how you will be able to decide if you have the right person.'

So we have Fred Underwood born about 1910, married and 2 daughters born before 1941.

That's about it Patchem. Mind you, Frederick did state originally he knew nothing else at all apart from what he put in the original query. However, asking about whether the daughters were older or younger did prompt a little more info.
Just racking my brains to think of anything else we might ask, in case it triggers another memory which might help.
