im looking to trace my foster aunt
Shirley (maiden name Jarvis)
and my 2 cousins Jackie and Jonathon (unknown surname)

Have you got an approximate age for her, part of the country she was living in when you were last in contact, and when was that, please?

Any idea of name of her husband?

as far as I know she left her partner yrs ago
she would be In her late 70's early 80's as she as my foster mums eldest sister we think she moved to dorset but not sure as she just disappeared I don't remember ever her visiting with a man her children were around 11 and 9 approx a very well to do person I got on really well with them
any info would be great thank u

as far as I know they were born in oxford but not sure

Val's husband's name? (Cannot see an obvious marriage)

Shirley born 1930 to 1940? Possibly Oxford

Val born 1935 to 1945? Possibly Oxford.

Jackie (Jacqueline?) and Joanathon born .... (When were they 9 and 11?)

The surname could be Laurence not Lawrence.

If you look on free bmd you can see a marriage of a Valerie R Jarvis to Mr Laurence in Witney in 1964.

There is then a birth for a Valerie R Jarvis in Bridgewater in 1936 - free bmd has it mis-transcribed as Valerie E.

However, I cannot then see the birth for a Shirley with the same mother's maiden name as Valerie has.

my foster fathers name was George he died 17/18 yrs ago

my foster mums full name Valerie rose Jarvis
my aunt was Shirley ann (poss anne)

my could be Ireland as that was my mums step dad I think

The wedding that I specified in 1964 was for a George Laurence.

bampton Oxfordshire which is where I still live now but not with my foster mum

actually Joanne it is LAURENCE - if you search as patchem said to at freebmd you can find the marriage easily, just search for the marriage of Valerie R Jarvis and then for the one that says 'Laurence' click on the page number to see the husband's full name.

but they may well have used the other spelling (or there could be a mistake on their marriage certificate)

this was probably her on the electoral roll do you think?

If Shirley is in her late 70's/early 80's, born 1930 to 1940, and the cousins were born 1980 -1989, then she would have been over 50 at their birth.

Can you have a think about ages, again, please.

I wondered if there was an error on the marriage certificate.

if Shirley is in her late 70s or older she would have been born before 1940

would she really have had children in the 1980s?

almost certainly not as late as 1989

if she were 75 this year she would have been born in 1939

I wonder whether maybe you have her age right but the children are older
