I think the problem lies with freebmd - the phonetic search does not appear to apply to the mothers maiden name, just to the registered surname. I've had the same problem in the past where mmn has been incorrectly spelt. |

Generally a good tip Roy, .... but my sister still doesn't feature with a phonetic search on Freebmd. |

Just select births then enter surnames in the correct surname boxes enter date range and tick the box marked "Phonetic search surnames" and this will allow for variations in the name spelling |

If you know the mother's maiden name and you don't see a birth, then you might want to consider there was an adoption. |

How do I find out if a couple had a child, which I suspect they did, but it does not appear on FreeBMD? |
