Thank you so much for all the information. I am sure I can now make good progress and perhaps make contact. It certainly does seem to be the Bettwsy I am looking for. |

Dealing with SA archives can be a bit of a tangle; it all depends on which one you need. I have had one site mail me copies of a document free of charge, and another tell me that I need to hire a local researcher to get copies. |

Many thanks for the valuable information in the South African National Archives. As I am in the UK will I have to find a researcher to obtain copies of these files? |

I am searching for living children and/or grandchildren of Charles Edward Benson born 1908 in Arkesden, Essex. He emigrated to South Africa in 1930, destination port Cape and eventually became a mining engineer. His wife's name was Dorothy G. They had two daughters I know of - Bettswy born 1938 and Rosemary J. born in 1939 in South Africa. Charles made visits back to England until 1948. Dorothy visited here with her daughter Rosemary in 1956. The two sisters Bettswy and Rosemary visited England in 1958. Researching on behalf of my husband, the nephew of Charles Edward Benson |
