people have put all sorts of information about other people in this thread, without the knowledge of those people (names, marriages, marriage breakdown, children ...) and I have always thought that was very unfair ... I don't think any of us would want that done about ourselves

But Janet Guest was not married in 1967 so she was unlikely to have the twins, where as Maureen was.... they both married someone with the same surname...and as pointed out one of the twins was living with a Maureen on the electoral roll

The Roy with a sister who had twins was born 1946 not 1948 same area though

My dad is returning home from holiday currently and will be asking her if she remembers the sisters name when he gets home.

I appreciate everybody's help...I really do as I know little on using this website. I just did not want people to get the wrong idea and think that I was silly enough to not understand that this is somebody's life I am dealing with, of course I do, but I also would like to help out my father, myself and my sister. A strong bloodline runs through our genes and we dont really know who this man is.

If my nan remembers the sisters name it will help narrow the search I hope. However the Janet Guest that has been identified does infanct live in the same area that they did back then and also is listed on Facebook as attending the exact school in which Roy and his sister did...co-incidence maybe, maybe not?

As jax has explained, there is the possibility that Roy had a sister called Maureen who married Harold and then may have had twins in 1967.

I appreciate that your Nan is also called Maureen, which would be co-incidence.

I believe it is more likely that Harold and Maureen are indeed the parents of the twins, as they and one of the twins are showing together on 192.com in Chesterfield in 2003-2004.

If so, there would be little use in trying to track Roy through Janet as they are the wrong family.

I was hoping that the people giving you the information about Janet and stating categorically that Janet was the mother of the twins would reply and explain where I had gone wrong and who the correct family is.

I see that the posting about a possible birth in 1940 has been removed, and wondered whether the information about Janet would also disappear without explanation.

Is there any possibility of your Nan remembering the name of the twin's Mother?

The reason a Maureen is mentioned is because that could be Roys sister and not Janet who's personal details have been handed out when she is possibly not related

My nans name was Maureen, not Roy's sister. I am not wishing to exploit anybody and have not given away any private details of his sister as I know none. Thankyou to all who have wanted to genuinely help and not hinder. I hope this search for my dads father proves successful for his sake.

Could someone tell me why they are convinced that the twins belong to Janet?

If we are talking about twins Darren and John, then Darren appears to be in the same dwelling as Harold and Maureen on 192.com in Chesterfield in 2003-2004.

And does his sister want her personal life displayed on the internet ..........

Roy, 1946, has a sister Maureen, 1941, Chesterfield births.

There is also a possible marriage for a Maureen to be the twins' mother.

(Ancestry has the name for her husband mis-transcribed)

Janet is on this site. Go to Search at the top and select Search All Member Trees to contact her. Search for Roy Guest born 1948.

Don't just ask to see her tree though.

There's a Janet who could be the mother of twin boys and there's possible births in Chesterfield for a Janet and Roy. Other siblings also.

There are 2 sets of twins born in Sheffield in 1967 with mother's maiden name of Guest.

Any idea of the sister's name and whether she had any previous children?

If Roy was born in 1940 he would have been 28 when my dad was born. My nan says that he was around 19-21 years old, her memory is not the best right now.

The twins were born in Sheffield I believe. Roy aparently lived in the Westfield area of Sheffield when my nan knew him.

Feel this may be a diffecult search :-/

Hi,
I'm trying to find a man named Roy Guest, I have limited information about him but thought I would give it a shot with what I do have.

This man worked for Pagets Building Merchants in Sheffield around 1967 that my nan recalls. Her name then was Maureen Thackery. She gave birth to my dad the following year.

She remembers that Roy had a sister who gave birth to twins in 1967 also.

I welcome any response..
