This is great thank you so much for this, not sure about the Maud Daffern bit as I was not aware that she had changed her name to Daffern, though it seems logical? Maud's mother was a witness at Maud's second marriage to A Crichton,

Beware of commercial sites for vital records in Canada, I have found. They are not going to have much because of the strict privacy rules and because no one has indexed material that the provinces themselves have not published really.

This is the official Saskatchewan site but it has not been updated in a long time.

it has Donald's birth

mother Maud Beacham father Jonas Arthur Whitaker, 1908 in Yorkton

but it does not show Jonas's death

marriages are not indexed.

In 1891 Maud "Beecham" aged 3 is a boarder with a family in Keighley.
In 1901 same spelling she is stepdaughter of the same Daffern family.

In 1907 Maud Daffern born c1887 travelled from Liverpool to St John New Brunswick.
She was not accompanied by any other Dafferns.
I do not have access to familysearch to check that record but maybe someone will.

Joseph Whittaker was born about ... trace relatives of Jonas Arthur Whitaker. It is believed that his son was Donald Brigg Whitaker who was born in Canada early 1900.

Could be birth about right, have searched for his wife Maud going over either as a Whitaker or Beecham but no joy. She comes back a widow with son Donald in 1908?

well presumably descendants of Donald, so if he was back in UK they won't be in Canada :-S
