If they are sisters why was Violet born in Sheppey and Ivy in Hackney?

So something is not correct, so we wait for certificates.

Have we got deaths for Ivy's parents?

If this Violet turns out to be your grandmothers sister she married a Henry which also could be known as Harry

Births Sep 1913 (>99%)

MUSSETT Violet L King Hackney 1b 1011

Marriages Sep 1934 (>99%)

Hill Henry R Mussett Hackney 1b 1260
Mussett Violet L Hill Hackney 1b 1260

Also the marriage of Violets parents

Marriages Mar 1911 (>99%)

King Charlotte R W.Ham 4a 356
Mussett Alfred R W.Ham 4a 356

charlottes death

Deaths Mar 1934 (>99%)

Mussett Charlotte R 43 Hackney 1b 624

which actually ties in with this birth

Births Dec 1891 (>99%)

LANKSTON Charlotte Rosina Hackney 1b 514

or maybe this one if she lied about her age?

Births Jun 1889 (>99%)

Lankston Charlotte Rose Hackney 1b 518

But until you get Ivy's birth cert it is all guess work

These are the ones I was looking at so how comes if they are not mussett
When my father is very sure of the violet and Harry

patchem Report 20 Apr 2014 15:54

This is the marriage of Violet to Harry:
Marriages Dec 1933
Mussett Violet Shaw Sheppey 2a 2747
Shaw Harry C Mussett Sheppey 2a 2747

so I thought this was Violet's birth:
Births Jun 1914
MUSSETT Violet Moore Sheppey 2a 1985

Which gets us back to what Shirley posted.

I was not saying there could not have been a 16 year age difference, but the likely hood of her still having children at 55 would be very slim.

Have you looked for any births on Freebmd? and even her death was listed on there....maybe it was not there in November though.

You had said when your grandmother died, so I would have thought anyone trying to help would have least looked up that death to see when she was born?

Ok will come back when I have ordered one and then share information ok xx

Flip Report 20 Apr 2014 14:35

I'm not trying to say he would lie - it's just there is no Violet born with the same mother's maiden name as your gran (and there is quite an age difference as Violet married in 1933 but your gran born in 1922) - that's why you need your grans birth certificate to see who her parents were so you can be sure of her ancestry.

So your saying get birth certificate on ivy mussett
And see what comes back,
Why would my dad lie about an auntie violet
They were always together

Lisa, I know where Jax is coming from, it's just your grandmother did not appear to have any siblings with the same mothers maiden name. Don't go rushing into buying multiple certificates, just get her birth certificate for starters - now we know from her death record she was born in 1922. Then we can look for her parents once we know their names for sure.

There is no recorded marriage for Mussett/Lankston as has already been pointed out, so either her mother had been previously married, or it has been recorded wrongly. I even tried to look for Alfred Richard Mussett's mmn - but it turned out to be Coulthard - just in case he misheard the registrar and gave his mmn by mistake.

I never said that I wasn't gonna get certificates

Never knew that people had to be a certain age to be a couple !!!!

And I have never meet my nan !!!!
Or my grandad for that matter as never knew my grandad was a round

Like when I send message to other tree users I am not to know they are 10 years old

So there we have it !!! :-(

I don't know what you expect us to do if you are not prepared to buy any certs.

Didn't you think it was strange that your grandfather was born 1923 and you were then given details of his wife being born 1907 and you knew she had children as late as 1962?

My nan has a sister violet !!!! This is the only one I hear my dad talk about
Was his mum and aunt and his dad

Like Pat says, I think you need some certificates.

Looking at Alfred Richard/Charlotte Rose, they are on 1911 census together - she states born Clapham in 1889 - but the only birth for a Charlotte Rose King that I can find was St Saviour in 1891 - and she is on 1901/11 census, so not the same person.

Do you remember if your gran had any other siblings - it's just Alfred's military record gives a number of children:

Lillian Rose (23/5/1909) - registered as King, but married as Mussett
Winnie Elizabeth (18/8/1911)
Voilet Louise (31/7/13)
Thomas Henry (28/11/1917)
And added was Bob (20/1/1920)

mmn King on all these registratons.

It is better to apply for the birth and marriage and death certificates, when found, so that you do not have to change your tree, or trace completely the wrong people.

The birth certificates will give the middle names if you do not know them, the correct birth date and parents' names, etc etc. If the mother has married twice, this information is rather useful.

This is particularly relevant if you are dealing with common names, but also is needed for your family.

You have said there are no records - there are, you need to buy anything relevant for more information.

Added:
Just realised this thread started in 2013, did you buy the certificates between then and now?

Flip Report 20 Apr 2014 09:21

If I have the right marriage for Violet - it was in 1933, and there is a birth for Violet mussett in 1913, with mmn King.

Alfred Richard Mussett married Charlotte Rose King in 1911 - in 1923 they were on the ERs in Hackney at 53 Nisbet Street. I had been looking at that couple to see if Charlotte had been married previously.

Have found a Charlotte Rose Lankston, but it can't be her as she married in 1913

It does seem strange that your father said there was a sister...but your grandmother was having children up until 1962 which would have made her 55 by then

Maybe they were cousins not sisters? there does not look to be any siblings under Mussett/Lankston

jax

jax Report 20 Apr 2014 03:58

I cannot see a marriage between Mussett and Lankston but as it was just after WW1 her mother may have been married before?
