If Ian had/has a copy of his Original birth certificate ( the one issued when first registered OR BEFORE his adoption ) he could have used this, as it would not have the words ADOPTED on the certificate.
& Who would have checked with the birth indexes ?

As he had " fell out " with his adoptive mother & going by human nature I would say he is using the surname WEBB.

The SW should have done this anyway without prompting from you as they told you

This is all the information I have apart form the Social worker said that he is not Dead, but he is not registered with a doctor in England or Wales. Which means he is either in Ireland, Scotland or Abroad.

Dave Report 22 Sep 2013 16:46

Hi All :-)

As promised here is an outcome of what was said in conversation with SW and what has happened in the last week.

As I said before the information you gave was correct and that she spoke with Robin but he did not know anything.

I asked her to look about contacting the Passport Office, also as the adoption agency is a government department, to also look at contacting National Insurance, Tax and Social departments as if they have information about him, they will not give it out but they might hand over a letter.

The problem still remains that no one knows for definite which surname he is using. I said about if Ian had fallen out with his adoptive mother would he still be using the surname of Falconer, she said that it would have been difficult to change his name back to Webb in the 70’s straight after being adopted, if he went into the services (as she thinks he might have) he would have used the name of Falconer.

The SW is now looking at writing to the 3 Forces to see if they can give any information.

Last weekend I found that there were only 3 people with the name of Falconer in Scotland who were in the correct age range, so I wrote to them and have 1 reply to say it was not him.

I also joined Forces Reunited and sent messages to 1 Ian Falconer and 3 Ian Webb’s that joined the forces in the 70s.

So at present it is still a bit of a stalemate.

Just a thought. 17/18 is about the right age for the forces. At 18 you didn't need parents consent.

Dave try forces reunited just in case.

I do know someone who at 17 left home only telling his parents at breakfast he was joining the army that day. I never asked him how he got over the signature of a parent. He never lived at home again but did keep in contact with them even though it was at a distance. Let's just say their parenting skills weren't great.

That's unfortunate, but does at least confirm the Rushden connection.

Despite being over 30 years since he saw him, he may still have been able to shed light on any adoption that may or may not have taken place.

Fingers crossed for today

Hi everybody :-)

Just a quick update, due to work commitments I have not been able to speak with SW yet but did email Monday.

We have arranged a call for Thursday, but the out come of the email was.

She received a phone call from Robin in response to her letter,

The Rushden Northampton connection was correct

Robin informed her that he had not seen Ian since they left the Southend area, he said he was talking over 30 years ago.

There was also information passed that Vivienne De Falconer has died as has Robin's brother.

So at the moment no further forward, but as I say I have arrange to speak on Thursday and I will let you know the out come of that :-)

Elliot81 Report 16 Sep 2013 19:29

True, if you search for Vivienne De Falconer in the Electoral Roll then her address in Rushden comes up, along with Robin a few miles away.

However, searching for her first son shows him living with her as Margaret V Falconer (Bennett as of 2008) down in Penryn.

Only one can be correct. The former is information gathered from those at the home who remember her name and the latter is from official BMD records. Which has more credence?

FAIRTHORN

FAIRTHORN Report 16 Sep 2013 07:38

True but we have nothing else cos we are assuming the SW has done a correct search.

All we can do is wait for Dave to come back after he has confronted the SW.

Elliot has found on the ER which is baffling
the son's name is the only one born in E&W
but using his other names he sadly died in 2006

2003-4
both the son & her under their correct names :-S

patchem Report 16 Sep 2013 07:18

I was going to put some more information on Vivienne, but if Ian walked out then that is not going to help if her family have had no contact with him for many years.

FAIRTHORN

FAIRTHORN Report 16 Sep 2013 06:13

STRANGE

if you put her name in peopletrace it says they found her name linked to RUSHDEN Northamptonshire

GOOGLE peopletrace then her name

if I post the direct link it shows her full name so prefer not to.

The Kettering possible son is 25 mins 11miles away from there

Elliot81 Report 16 Sep 2013 05:22

I believe Margaret Watkin is the person we think she is, but curiously she is labelled as 69 rather than 92 in the Electoral Roll!

Many of the people on the message boards indicate they now use their birth name rather than the temporary one (Falconer) given to them at the home. Though of course some do have completely different (new) last names now!

There is a person born in 1959 for the Wilshire marriage

Plus I would have thought the SW would have found Ian if it was this simple
this is why Dave is confirming the SW did chase the correct spelling or the fancified version which her other son used.

The business she had, was linked to Wyoming USA ie Registered Address:

If as Dave has been told that Ian " walked out " he could have had no further contact with his adoptive mother.

Plus she had 2 birth sons one sadly died in 2006 under another name
where is the son born 1957 ?

EDIT
For the other son, there is a possible in Kettering in that age group
Can see only that one birth in E&W for those years.
There is a birth in Scotland but for 1950

Patchem/Shirley

That is the one but she had fancified her names ie used her second name

Dave is contacting his Social worker on Monday

He is asking the SW if this confirms the correct person & if the spelling is correct & the Passport office & will & probate route ( the last one Dave can do himself via his local office which would be quicker than the SW )

Remember that FALCONER was not the exact surname she used even though that was her married name.

As I found the data I may as well sent it to you so you can verify with the Social worker.
