Find Living Relatives

Dave, I'm sorry if I have offended you - it was not intentional and was very unthoughtful & unfeeling to post in such a way.

I'm not trying to defend myself, but like the other helpers was just trying to find something to help you find a way forward - mine was obviously not the right way to go.

Ian's birth name was Webb, He was at the home until about 1973-5.

I have been in contact with the Adoption agency and they sent a social work to see me. But they do not know where he is either.

I was given a document by social service which just happen to be in my file and I know that he was adopted in 1971 by the House mother of the home.

I have found out by contacting other people who were there the same time as Ian, that her name was Faulkner. The only other information they know is that he left one evening and never returned.

Initially the social worker would not give me Ian's name as she had to ask Ian's permission, but as no one can find him that would be a little difficult.

She reluctantly confirmed Faulkner the name she had, when I told her I now knew it.

Ian's middle name is Robert.

This is all the information I have apart form the Social worker said that he is not Dead, but he is not registered with a doctor in England or Wales. Which means he is either in Ireland, Scotland or Abroad.

If I find out anything else I will let you know.

So we are looking for Ian Robert Faulkner, age about 58.

I have friends who are not registered with any doctors, and they are in this country....

Do we have any more information about Miss/Mrs Faulkner?

From what the social work has told me, she died a couple of years ago. She is going to try and get her Death certificate to see who registered her death.

Brilliant.

Do you know her first name and place of death?

No unfortunately I do not know these details the SW has kept them to herself.

ANOTHER AVENUE TO TRY

Has the Social worker been in touch with the PASSPORT OFFICE to ask if ever a passport has been issued in Ian EITHER SURNAME quoting his date of birth ???

The adoptive mother was not under this exact surname or used her birth first name.

If above is correct ............ you need to check if your social worker is chasing the correct spelling.

I have data for the possible adoptive mother etc
This person's house was sold in 2010
Sadly one of her other son's died in 2006

Due to her business & sale of the house I would think a will was registered & probate obtained.
& if she did not disinherit Ian he should be named etc

Would he have been legally adopted at aged 17 ? Maybe the lady fostered him rather than adopted him

If I was Dave I would be down to my local Probate Office rather than waiting for the Social worker !!

He does not have to tell the Social worker he is doing this as they hate to rush it !!

He will have enough data to trace the "mother"
name/address/year of death

Unfortunately the little information that I have given you is all that I have, and not what I choose to give you. I know it is hard and frustrating trying to find Ian with only this information, but it has been like that for me for years.

I last saw and spoke with Ian the day before he went back to the home in 1965, so all I have had to go on over the years is little drips of information from people I have spoken with, so when I said about him leaving one evening this is what I was told.

As I have said before and will keep on saying, I really appreciate all the time and effort people are giving in try to help me find Ian and I can’t say Thank you enough, but if I knew anything else I would tell you as my ultimate goal is to try and find Ian and with all your help I am feeling much more positive about that, than I did a little while ago when all I was doing was hitting a brick wall every way I turned.

I will contact the Social worker on Monday with your idea about contacting the Passport office :-)

And am trying another avenue about the surname :-)

Remember that FALCONER was not the exact surname she used even though that was her married name.

As I found the data I may as well sent it to you so you can verify with the Social worker.

I was just going to post a marriage in Wiltshire that might have been him and PM the details and current address

would be interesting to know where Ian was found :-)

Has he been found or was it just the death of his adoptive mother?

If he was living in Southend area would a marriage in Wilshire be likely.....I suppose people do move so he could of married anywhere
