Thank you for your message. Yes it's such a shame that his mother doesn't know if he's okay. I hope we'll be able to find out if he is. Thanks for your help. |

Unfortunately, if someone wishes to 'disappear', it isn't difficult to achieve. |

Thank you for your replies. My nan notified the police and showed the police photographs, but they couldn't find him and then didn't investigate any further. He was over 18 when he left so I don't know if that made a difference. (He was 20 when he went missing). He played football for the Cardiff boys team, he had a passport and went abroad to Spain once to play football when he was 16. After he left, when his belongings were searched his passport was missing, so this could be an option. But as it was a real shock when he left, his mother doesn't know where he went. He was leaving 8 brothers behind so it seemed odd that he'd just go, but he didn't get on with his father (my nan's ex-husband) very much. |

I assume there was a police investigation. What did they conclude regarding his disappearance? Any idea where he would have gone? |

I'm looking for my uncle, Philip David Nelms who was born in Cardiff in 1957 on November the 3rd. He left for work in the morning on the 21st of July 1978 to go to work where he was a betting shop manager in Splott. He never arrived in work, my nan, his mother, didn't know until 5 o'clock that day that he hadn't been to work. I have never met him but am searching with my nan, his mother, and am hoping for a positive response. Please get in touch if you can offer any more information. Thank you. He has been missing for so long, 35 years, and my nan is wondering if he can ever be found and if she will ever see him again. |
