i am trying to find any information on or about arthur james coutts. His parents lived at 15 golf crescent aboyne in scotland. In 1942 he married elsie gale in st johns the babtists church bere regis dorset england. He had a daughter with elsie called shirley, born in 1944, but i dont know if they were divorced before or after her birth.On the 1/1/1949 arthur was awarded The British Empire Medal (military division) from the king. (633230 Flight Sergeant Arthur James Coutts). This took place at st james palace. i believe he had a sister called isabel.

If married in 1942, difficult to be divorced by 1944. Why do you think they were?

How did you get back to him, and what information are you looking for - death, other marriages, names of parents?

Have you got his marriage certificate to Elsie?

The 2007 death in Aboyne would tie in with the 1920 birth in Aboyne.

Again you would have to order the certificate to check if he is your Arthur James.

If indeed above 2007 death is correct

there is a gentleman aged 45-49 possible son at same address as Arthur James Coutts

Coutts is a fairly common name in Aberdeenshire - I even have some of them on my tree! It does help a bit that there aren't very many Arthurs.

Just in the passing, I have been to Aboyne when researching my OHs Aberdeenshire ancestors and it is a lovely place. I seem to remember that we had a great value delicious meal in a hotel there.
