Hi all,
Thanks for your in put. I now know My Grandmother Alice Beatrice Nowman was married to John La Mare Arrowsmith & lived in Isle of Man. on 1911 they were married there for 12years.
Registered in census. As a child, she is registered as 'Ellis' as her mother, Sarah was French so accent, you can see this.
Now just after 1911 census she left him (could keep his hands off servents) & returned to her mother in Rochester. She met my Grandfather George James Reid who was married to a Josephine Maginess who he married in Scotland . Dont know where or when?
Now George and Alice could not have been married when my Mother was born on 22.12.1914 as might have registered Mum under his wife as her mother.?!? So hence can't find a birth certificate. But they must have tied the knot sometime as when he was killed in the WW1 my Grandmother was identified as his wife and notified by letter and she received a war pension. Jan
