Patricia Report 28 Aug 2013 20:54

The woman who I called nan had grand children older then me , i new most of her family. Many of them not happy with her taking me in, thinking any thing she had { not much at all }should be for her own grand children. As a much younger woman she took in a young boy, who's mother had died and dad could not cope. I wondered if mother new of this and used it for her own advantage.

Well done Grannie Annie of 15 and Kay??

I think Patricia you may wish to check on this information as it does seem that your 'nan' may have been connected in some way.

It is unusual for someone to keep a child as their own without knowing anything about the family and support would be important. It would ot have been easy for nan.

Suggest you check this information.

Thanks for the information re Facebook. Yes, came to same thoughts today Kay???.

I always questioned the registration bit. It is just not permitted.

I think the suggestion of Nan's family is the right direction and I also think the hospital would have details of your birth - mother's name, etc. You definitely need to get this confirmed.

Patricia, perhaps you could search trees for 'Nans' family. Did she marry, your foster father, children of your nan, etc.

Shappo,that FB is Patricia,

I am wondering how *Nan* was able to register a birth using her own surname!,,,,,,,,as it was an offence and would have been told this if she informed the registrar as she lacked details about your birth,it would have been questioned at the time....

Have you looked into *Nans* family.?

Patricia,

Not wishing to get your hopes up too quickly, but I found this on google:

Trace Missing Persons Ireland. | Facebook
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Trace...Ireland/143712565673714?
Photo: PLEASE SHARE: Trace Missing Persons Ireland are seeking your assistance in ... WATERFORD FRANCES SULLIVAN Frances Sullivan had a baby in ...

Now if you are on Facebook, which I am not, you could connect to this and see if it holds something fvor you. Unless, it is you who has put this on, it may be other siblings or children of Frances or nothing connected at all.

Go in and have a look.

You will get there - keep trying - you are doing well so far.

Go to google and key in Catholic Churches in Waterford, Ireland and then contact the church - I have no doubt they will wish to help and if they cannot ask them to direct you to who may be able to.

Just off out now, will look into thread later.

I cannot help you with this, but someone else may be able to.

Only suggest that you may like to make contact with the churches in the area who may have baptised Frances Sullivan and may lead you to the family.

I did a google on churches in Waterford and came up with a few:
www.calvarywaterford.com
www.goldenpages.ie › Services › Churches › Waterford?

Try this unless a helper comes on here with access to help you. Do you have any idea of Frances religion? This may help.
www.ukbmd.org.uk/county/waterford/births
www.ukbmd.org.uk/county/waterford/marriages/?

To help you to help yourself Patricia, all you need to do is go to google and key in waterford bmd. This is another way of finding information.

I have had a search for the hospital that may have been close to where you were originally left and it appears to be East Acton.

I am wondering if you could write to:

Making an FOI request - it is the NHS, I found on google:

Freedom of Information requests must be in writing, by post, fax or email.

The address for postal enquiries is:

Ministerial Correspondence and Public Enquiries
Department of Health
Richmond House
79 Whitehall
London SW1A 2NS

Requests can be faxed to: 020 7210 5952

For email requests please use the Department of Health contact form and write 'Freedom of Information' in the 'Subject' line.

You could then either send by email or post and give a brief story before going into too much detail. That way if they can help they will come back to you for more information
if it is necessary or refer you on.

This should give you the hospital where you were born, the name and contact details of your mother at the time. This will then give confirmation to you that any stories, names, etc. are correct and not inuendo.

See how you go with that.

(this is where I obtained the information so you could go to this yourself and see what you decide from what it offers).

Hammersmith Hospital

Telephone: 020 3313 1000
Address: Du Cane Road, London, Greater London, W12 0HS
Website: http://www.imperial.nhs.uk/hammersmith/index.htm

I am of the opinion that all Depts of the kind will want to help or find it needs the 'too hard basket'. However, inspiration is a wonderful thing and you may find someone takes an interest and will help.

Good luck.
