there was NO direct instruction to you and there was NO accusation made

(and your comment about 're-wording' was rather patronizing)

Oh, for pity's sake, brigid.

You've been around the block a while here, although maybe not a lot outside your own family threads ...

this site provides zero accessible information/instructions for newcomers, and it sometimes seems that every single one of them, if they manage or bother to make their way back to their threads and read messages, completely disregards the 'reply' box and the fac that everyone else has posted messages in the thread, and clicks on other members' names and sends private messages ... sometimes just to reply to info or questions, sometimes assuming everyone in a thread is one big happy family and we must all be related and want to see one another's trees.

in addition is the stupid 'marked as answered' function that, again, every single newcomer uses to check off someone else's post if they think they have answered it, thus tagging their entire thread as answered, with the result that people don't bother reading it to offer more help

some people, myself included, hope that newcomers will see our 'Researching' comments as 'sig lines' the way other sites have, and that those comments will help them use the boards effectively and avoid time-consuming explanations from the rest of us

none of it has the first thing to do with you

you might want to expand your horizons a little and just familiarize yourself more with the goings on on the boards and the people making them go! :-)

well there we are, it also helps to know that you are seeking help elsewhere, and people at this site have no idea what people at other sites have found for you :-D

I obviously enjoy other people's family histories as well or I (and many others) would not be here

but when the stories are spread over many threads and the threads contain information that to an outsider is indecipherable without being familiar with what is in all the other threads ... well, you said it! --- it 'could deflate someone less tenacious' ... there are not many more tenacious than me and after reading two of your and Alisoun's threads recently I was completely deflated :-)

I have also established that David Fellman (b. 1886), the watch maker, also emigrated to New York in 1905. At some point he married a Bohemian Jewess named Sadie. They do not appear to have had any children. Strangely, in his 1926 petition for US naturalisation, David insisted that he had been born in Manchester on 20 October 1886.

Bessie (b. 1882) married Ely Ness (b. c1880 Jakobstadt) in 1913 in New York. Originally called Ely Nissse, he was recorded in the 1911 UK census in Manchester. He and Bessie settled in Savannah, Georgia and had at least four children. Significantly, they named a daughter Jennie/Jeanette in 1918, meaning that Bessie’s mother had died shortly before. They family moved back to New York and had 71-year-old Samuel with them for the 1925 New York census.

This family could keep us occupied for years to come. "

because brigid as I said in your other thread, some people reading will not know of all the posts about these families ....... and the fact is that some of them are virtually impossible for any outsider to the family and anyone who has not made a study of all of the threads to understand even minimally (I have tried in a couple of cases)

I and others who are interested in helping on these boards very much appreciate it when other members bring it to our attention that there are existing multiple threads about a family so we do not waste time reinventing the wheel

at this point I don't know what 'more info' any outsider could hope to find for you!

Another disappointment ; the birth cert of the Rachel Fellman didb't state if married or sg or Parents names , and she died in the workhouse !

Elias Bloch was a doctor in Glasgow b 1898 d 1986 aged 88.

he worked with his brother in law , Abraham Levy who married Dinah Emily Bloch in 1923

Edith ( Geiss-Ada ) Bloch married Montague Harris in 1921 but he died later the same year

info from Scots people .

info from internet believe Edith remarried Gompertz +had twins in the early 1930's
visited her aunt May Ginsberg in 1944 aged 42 ...boat records

Extra info ; the 2 eldest Bloch children had burseries at The Harris Acadamy in Dundee in 1909 ;the address is the same as on 1911 census .
Awarded to Elias Bloch
and Edith Bloch (on census this is Geiss-Ada )

I now have the names of the 3 fellman siblings who died in jakobstadt Latvia ;dvora aged 16 months 15/9/1880(not sure if that is death date or birth year )
mottel aged 9 21/11/1884 he has a place name of Griva
gesa -eida 20/10/1888 aged 34
their father is listed as Leizer-mendel ,Fellman son of Leib

Rebecca named 1 of her daughters goese -ida (varied spellings) could this be after her mother who died young

Rebecca died in a care home in Dumfries .
on Rebecca's death cert 1960 Surname is spelt Block (although the transcribers k's are very similar to his h's).
she is listed as widow of Benjamin Block of Battlefield av. Glasgow

thanks jax have found the fellman greatgparents to add to search thread and mmn is Landsmann so there may be a connection with the other 1896 prestwich marriage
on the same page as Ben Bloch?Black and Rebecca after all. !
apparently because of Jewish naming systems girls often took the Mm surname
So it looks like I'm going to have to start searching the landsmann 's too ; Am having a computer free day tomorro !

re scots records yes we will do that .we're also sending off for a Latvian research to be done
re posting about same people we are already fnding out more about the Blochs thru a friend on another site and I think if i add to my site on find ancestors these 2 posts will cross over should I delete this post and start a new one when i know names of who I'm looking for or mark it as answered for now (can i remove the answered mark later . ) am off for an icecream so will deal with any wecome advice later

If you wish to find out about the Blochs, you'll almost certainly need to invest in credits for Scotlands people

one gave Bloch and one Black.

interesting that the Bloch/Black family family were already established in Dundee before the wedding arriving before 1891 but after 1881 .wonder why Benjamin chose to marry in Prestwich synagogue ....all very exciting .

I gave you the marriage from freebmd and lancsbmd which both say Black

The 1901 says Bloch on FMP but Block on ancestry...as I cannot see the image not sure what it says

As a lot of Jewish people anglicised their names it could well be Black now

Not sure what you mean by you couldn't view the other entry?? there was no other entry to view they just gave an alternative name

The marriage at Prestwich synagogue from Lancsbmd only says Black

on the 1924 hospital records I have Rebecca Iblock of 25 craigmillar K (could be Rd but there's an odd squiggle which looks like a small 2) Glasgow

maybe that address will ring some bells for someone, or the Iblock spelling
