Hi Rose. Yes I agree that that is the correct David. I have his birth date from Durham records online. I think I have found the correct marriage for him through freebmd and I will try to follow them on the electoral rolls as well as William. That is not a job I have started on yet. Thanks very much for the suggestion. |

Rose's suggestion re. the electoral register is the best one - kind of what I had in mind too. You could also check Ethel's address to see whether her husband was still living, or even if any other children were still living there - it's just possible. |

You could look at old electoral rolls to see who was living with William at the time. If you discover his wife's name it might help. |

Thanks brummiejan, I do have Ethel's death certificate and it was signed by her son William, so I do know his address in Wallsend as of 1965. Unfortunately, William Scott is a very very common name, and I don't have any experience of tracing living people. As well as things like 192.com, I am currently considering local newspaper adverts, along with writing to everyone called Scott in Wallsend! |

Do you have Ethel's death cert? It is quite likely to be a relative who registered the death, and this might give you a lead to follow. |

Thanks Pricklyholly. I am in contact with Dawn, but the only details she has on Ethel is what I have given her. Unfortunately the family that Dawn is in contact with do not know of Ethel. |

Thanks Reggie. I have searched all trees to no avail. |

A public tree on Ancestry has all the details you have given regarding Ethel. |

I am hoping to find descendants of Ethel May Drummond born 1904 in Newburn, Northumberland. Ethel married in Glasgow in 1928 and gave birth to my father in law in 1929. The marriage did not last and Ethel was back on Tyneside by the time the couple divorced in 1932. My father in law never saw his mother again, in fact, when he was growing up he was allowed to believe she was dead. It was the mid-sixties before he was told that this was not the case. |
