Thanks for that, Reggie. I do have most of that detail re-Roborough and George - 1826 - was my great grandfather. George and Richard were common names within the family and as a child I knew a couple of them, plus Winifred who was a sister to my mother. I''ve uncovered a second cousin I met as a child but she's not very interested in family history. For the record my younger brother and I were evacuated to Roborough in 1940 not knowing we had had family there in the past. I've been back since but no sign of any Baters locally now.
