Sometime during the 1600s, or so it appears!, some members of the BaRnfather family arrived in the Norwich area of Norfolk. By the early 1700s, the 'r' had been pretty much dropped and the name became Banfather there. The relationship between the two names was proven when representatives of each name (and, also, the Bairnsfather family) participated in the Viking DNA Study conducted by University College London some 11 years ago. |
