There is a chance that Valerie stayed with her father, who may not have told her about what happened with regard to her mother and her relationship with your friend's father.

What did the mother say about her 'status' when she married Kirkpatrick in 1948?

As I have previously mentioned I think, i'm new to all this. Yes, my friend is the child by the Kirkpatrick marriage so wold be a half sibling. It seems he was born the year after his mother remarried.

I haven't contacted Valerie yet. I believe she got married in Liverpool, Lancs to and is now Morris. I have a list of people with same initial living in that area and my next idea was to just call them all on the off chance or possibly better, to write with my email . Could anyone offer any other advice?
I am hoping Valerie has heard of her brother somehow and is maybe looking for him.

You need to get the marriage certificate to see what name is for the Father, then.
How do you know she has the same date of birth?

I thought adopted at one point but I think the named father died in Lancs ( if this is the same person) and there is someone with the same name,date of birth etc who married in Lancs which seems a coincidence,
I keep checking dates just in case i'm following the wrong people and all dates seem to agree.

Finding a birth cert after mothers death certainly sounds that way.

If that is the case, its absolutely pointless tracking records in that birth name. If she was adopted she will have a new name .

Have you looked on 192.com to see if she is listed on there in her married name?

Or searched the trees in her maiden name to see if she or anyone has her in a tree?

I am trying to trace the sister of a friend. Her name is Valerie Lilian nee Boddy. Father was John Boddy and mother was Lilian Ethel Florence Boddy. I belive Valerie may now be married and poss living in the Lancs area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have not put what i believe to be a present married name as i think quite a lot of detail has been already provided. However, if this would help confirm the peron, i will add it.
