Alan was my dad . He died in 1986. Longing to locate his twin Betty.

Two Holding/Lomax births in 1952 and 1953.

I have not been able to find any further info as her name was just listed at birthas Betty Holding of which is a very common name . Have had others contact me to say this is her marriage only to find there Betty had different parents names .

I can't get the marriage cert until I know when she married .

Yes Percy , Ernest , Ivy , Harry were among the siblings. I am not experienced at finding the more current records ...I have marriage certs of other descendants further back , but finding info on dad's siblings and even my cousins has proved really difficult . All I have of dad's past is some of his army records and photos . I know he lost his parents when really young and the Holding name is so common in Lancashire...I have emails from GR members where I sent messages going back to 2005...very few on GR are related if at all , or know very little about the Holding side . I have posted this before years back and none of the replies were related . Just thought I would try again as I did make contact with older sister Ivy married name Gallop years ago in the 1980's , but a letter was returned GNA from her address in Appleton .

Thank you all for looking . I live in hope . I must have a large family out there somewhere in England . I was told Ernest married a Marion Lomax and had two daughters Valerie and Linda ...even rang a Linda Holding to no avail.

Just saw the Gornett reply - that was one of the false leads . I made contact with the daughter and again her mum's parents names were different and no twin brother Alan .

i meant do you have their parents marriage cert for ages etc. Their death cert informants may be family

Have tried the free bmd site many,many times - just did so again - no matches . I did put in mothers maiden name .

Twins went straight in my family for a no. of generations (I have twin younger sisters ). I did hear that my dad was actually a triplet but one died at birth .

Alan & Betty were registered in March 1932 (mmn Rowson) in Warrington, because their births were probably December.

Betty Holding m in Warrington 1956 Eric A A Gornett (this is a mistranscription - should be Garnett as there were no Eric Gornetts born)

They had 2 children

Jane Garnett b Bury Lancs O-D 1966 and
Guy Charles Garnett b J-S 1969 (mmn Holding)

Cannot findBetty or Eric on the ERs but so many people these days opt out of them.

But good news there has only been one Guy C Garnett ever born in England and he is living today from 1996 in Rochdale at

Thank you for sending the record of dad's trip to NZ . All I had was a photo of the ship and on NZ's records it just said departed Glasgow 1955 - Alan Holding .

Yes both his parents had died when he left UK ...Yes I have Elizabeths and Henrys marriage cert ..one informant was Henry's father - Henry also . Yes I knew the home address of 102 Owen St . I have dad's drivers license from England ..and a few work papers ..any army record nos ...etc all these I have tried to google and search ...

One day I will get to England ... I did make contact with a Norman Bergin who was able to help as he was related ...our great ggfathers were brothers .

Thank you Shirley - I did not know when Elizabeth Rowson Holding died - that is another gap filled . Wow so young 53 - my dad died at 55 in his sleep - heart attack . He always said when its my time let me go in my sleep ...and he did .

His nickname was Pom and when I was young ...being his eldest all his mates nicknamed me Pom Junior !

When mum cooked Sunday Roast lunches years ago he always dipped a chunk of bread in the Roast fat , said thats what he as a kid was brought up on bread and lard ! Yuk :)

Was a perfectionist ......remember he used to soak our bike chains in coco-cola to remove the rust ! I have never been able to drink the stuff !

Really appreciate what you have sent me . Every little thing becomes so precious and how I wished I had asked many many questions .
