Thanks Kathleen, there are some members on this site with the name and approximate year of birth in their tree. You can contact them by going to "search" in the top right hand corner, and send a message to them by clicking on their name. Did David live in Whitby? There are a lot of people with the name in the area, do you know if he married, and the name of his wife. |

Hi Liz, Thanks, yes he was married but I don't know his wife's name, he lived in Whitby but again I don't know where abouts. One of those cases where you loose touch with the person and just hear about them from other family members. Unfortunately my father lost all contact with his close family in the 70s. I have contact with a second cousin but he does'nt know about David. About 2 years ago I tried the electoral roll but none were right.. Kathleen |

Kathleen, sorry to ask the bloomin' obvious! But are you sure he had no middle name? A middle initial - or to some degree a lack of one - would help a bit. Also a more precise idea of age, as then it's easier to look for likely marriages/offspring. |

Hi Jan, I wish I knew more about him the last time I saw him was probably 1953 (we lived abroad) he would be about 70-73 now and I don't know if he had a middle name but his uncles were David and William (my father) my father didn't have a middle name but our grandfather was David Stoddard. David's parents were Andrew and Elizabeth and he grew up in Patna a mining town near Ayr. |

Well, for what it's worth, I would be inclined to locate his birth record on Scotland's People if you can. That way you can look for a marriage for someone who has the right middle initial, or for that matter exclude all of them with any middle initial at all! Either way, this might just provide you with the extra clue you need. Otherwise looking for a David Simpson anywhere in the UK will be well nigh impossible. |
